Jehovah Tsebaioth: The LORD of Hosts
Joshua 5:13–15
I have decided to follow Jesus
No turning back
Though none should join me
Still I will follow
The world behind me, the cross before me
I have decided to follow Jesus
God reveals Himself as the Lord of Hosts only to
those who set their hearts and minds to walk
before Him in purity
2 Kings 6:15–17
A Mighty Fortress Is Our God
Did we in our own strength confide,
Our striving would be losing,
Were not the right man on our side,
The man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth, his name,
From age to age the same,
And he must win the battle.
A Mighty Fortress Is Our God
Did we in our own strength confide,
Our striving would be losing,
Were not the right man on our side,
The man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth, his name,
From age to age the same,
And he must win the battle.
1) You must cross the Jordan river (Joshua 3:17)
You die to self, to this world and all in it
Crossing the Jordan is a declaration of war
on sin
A decision to take victory over Satan, to
surrender to the Lord
Requirements for those who want to
lay hold of God’s promises
2) You must face the sharp knife of circumcision (Joshua 5:2–3)
An outward sign that something is taking
place in the heart
Deuteronomy 10:16; Romans 2:29; Colossians 2:11
Zechariah 4:7
Requirements for those who want to
lay hold of God’s promises
‘For it is we who are the circumcision, we who
serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ
Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh.’
Philippians 3:3
‘What is more, I consider everything a loss
because of the surpassing worth of knowing
Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have
lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I
may gain Christ.’
Philippians 3:8
When you understand that you cannot do it by
self-effort, God is then free to do
His mighty work in your life
‘I lift up my eyes to the mountains–where does
my help come from? My help comes from the
Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.’
Psalm 121
3) You must experience Passover (Joshua 5:10)
Be reminded of God’s love, grace and mercy
Requirements for those who want to
lay hold of God’s promises
4) You must face the walls of Jericho
1 John 1:8
Numbers 14:23, 28–29, 35–37
If you refuse, your faith will be weak and
your testimony to the world rendered null
and void
Requirements for those who want to
lay hold of God’s promises
JEHOVAH TSEBAIOTH
The battle is not yours…it is Mine!
He wants to fight on your behalf!
