What IS Yearbook? Tailings is a historical record of SMS,
entirely student-designed, created and sold. From writing the content to designing the layouts to marketing the book, students are involved in every aspect the process.
Few classes offer the diverse skills that are gained from working on the yearbook.The adviser (me) has the power of veto, but will only use it when absolutely necessary.
Being a member of the Tailings staff means students will learn or be exposed to the following:
Journalism skills Technology skills Life skills
Producing a successful yearbook is an interactive experience. A quality publication results from a diverse staff working together as a team. Students will experience what it is like to be an: editor, photographer, writer, designer, marketing director, and a sales person.
On a larger scale, the yearbook must interact with the school community to produce a product that meets with customer approval.
