Dear ReaderAt the editorial offi ce we decided long ago to save the Christmas features for the November edition because we feel that Christmas starts way too early in many other places. Some magazines and shops start talking about Christmas as early as in October when we are still enjoying the wonders of autumn. However, once we pass November 1st and we have been peeking around in the shops for a few weeks, we really step on it both at the editorial offi ce and at home. Many of us here at the offi ce jump-start Christmas by going for a long walk in the forest to look for natural decoration materials for our Advent wreath, Christmas decorations and perhaps a special wreath for the front door. This edition provides you with plenty of inspiration for all these lovely Christmas projects. We personally love making all kinds of Christmas decoration vines for my windows because they seem to add a perfect Christmas feel in an instance. This year we will defi nitely also be trying out some of Dorte’s big crackers and Lonnie’s decorations made of parchment paper. There are plenty of ideas for a nice, creative afternoon with our girlfriends or the children. We are already looking forward!
Happy reading!

Who are we, and why the name Jeanne d’Arc Living?Who are we, and why the name Jeanne d’Arc Living?Who are we, and why the name
The French heroine Jeanne d’Arc was an amazing woman with an unusually strong will and sense of purpose. She didn’t ascribe to the common opinions of her time of what one should or should not do. Instead she went her own way and fought till the very end for her beliefs.
In using her name in connection with our company, we do so with the utmost respect for this remarkable woman. We also feel that there’s a lesson to be learned from her – even now, 600 years later. We should all have the courage to go our own ways and dare to stand out from the crowd. From the very beginning these have been some of our main goals for the company. We continuously aim to think outside the box and stand up for what we believe.
Today part of the company is a publishing business that publishes our own magazines and books. The common thread in everything we do is the French-Nordic country style. We publish a magazine that keeps to the style, avoiding distracting advertisements within the magazine. This is, of course, a challenge. It requires a substantial amount of editorial material and that we do most of it ourselves in order to make ends meet. The magazine is published in eight languages and sold in many parts of the world.
We also run a wholesale business with our own designs produced both here in Denmark and abroad. The company has been around for almost ten years and is jointly owned by Lonnie Würtz Jensen and Vivian Christensen. If you’d like to learn more about us and the company, you can follow our everyday life on our blog.
All the best,
Lonnie & Vivian

Come along to visit a beautiful home in Switzerland that has been wonderfully decorated for Christmas. An amazing and inspiring home with plenty of nice Christmas details.
Daniela’s amazing home sits beautifully right next to the Swiss town of Bern. She lives here together with her husband Lenaar, their youngest son who is 24, three dogs and two cats. Their 28-year old daughter and their oldest son who is 30 fl ew the nest long time ago.
Ever since Daniela was a little girl she has been in love with all things white because white gives her a feeling of light, calmness and space. White just makes her happy.
Having been married for 32 years, the couple’s current home is their third home. Decors and style have always been country-like and French-Nordic. Daniela cannot imagine living in a different style. She loves old, white, peeled off furniture that adds a special atmosphere to the home.
5
Ideas:The sunroom fl oor is made of chipboard. Daniela painted it white and wrote on it with medium gray color. As she did not use a stencil, this job required skill and a beautiful handwriting. Afterwards she patinated the fl oor with sand paper.
This beautiful star is made of rustic buttons sitting on thin fencing wire. It looks fabulous and can be made in various sizes and shapes.
The fur on the bench underlines the cozy and wintery atmosphere.
One of the windows in the sunroom has been replaced by a large mirror to create a fantastic feel and make the room look much bigger. You can use this idea in many different areas of your home and it works particularly well in small rooms.

When Daniela decorated the couple’s fi rst home, she did not have much money. She started shopping at fl ea markets where she found the right things at a low price. She is not afraid to use a paint brush and loves the lifestyle of lending new life to fl ea market fi nds. Even today Daniela is often amazed at the positive effect of a layer of white paint.
Ideas:Daniela has placed a stencil on the tiles above the stove. We've never seen stencils on tiles before but why not? What a fantastic idea!
Daniela has used old furniture to add extra charm to the kitchen. The table in the middle of the fl oor creates wonderful lightness in the room and adds lots of atmosphere – especially at Christmas time when it’s decorated with real candles and a small fi r tree in a nice, little tureen.
9
Daniela has turned her passion into her profession through the shop ”Weisser Traum” where she sells new and old interior, carries out styling projects for her customers and hosts various seminars. Daniela and her husband buy old things and furniture on markets in Belgium, Holland and France. When they return with a carload of new fi nds, they take them directly to the shop and sell them to their excited customers. Find out more by visiting Daniela’s blog:www.weissertraum.blogspot.com
Ideas:The couple has made a living room bookcase wall from recycled doors, old drawers, small old cupboards and other items. It creates a nice effect and is absolutely unique.
The nice, big star is made of fencing wire decorated with string lights.

12
Daniela’s husband fully supports her and she enjoys traveling and shopping with him when stocking up the shop. The rest of the family is always ready to help whenever needed. Daniela says that without her family she would not have been able to live her dream.
Ideas:The large guest room is also Daniela’s study where she spends her evenings testing new ideas. Whenever you furnish a study, make sure that everything is stored decoratively but easily available. If you need to spend time looking for things, you tend to never get started.
Also make sure that the room is bright and light and has an airy and inviting feel to it. This is particularly important if the room fulfi ls several functions.
13
Many of Daniela’s fi nds end up in her own home, at least for a while. It’s hard not to. That’s why her home is ever-changing. She likes combining white with a few rough elements such as old industrial lamps, things or furniture in funny colors or with patina, or things made of old, raw wood. These elements provide a nice contrast to all the white items.
At Christmas time, the entire house is transformed through lots of nice, green Christmas decorations and candles. Daniela is very fond of Christmas and to her it’s the celebration of love. Friends and family from near and far are invited over for Christmas dinner, and she always tries to create a magic atmosphere with a beautiful and nicely decorated table.
