Lesson 2: The Nature of Prejudice
By: Jeannette Hernandez & Milton Sanchez
An example of prejudice:
•These are 2 examples of a certain group of individuals and only one being different.
Definition of some words:
• Scapegoat: One that is made to bear the blame of others.
• Discrimination: unfair treatment of a person, racial group, minority, etc.
• Racism: The systematic and widespread extermination or attempted extermination of an entire national, racial, religious, or ethnic group.
Is prejudice learned or are we born with it?
• People discriminate through words, actions and conduct against groups they feel are different or inferior. That comes to mean that we are not born with it, it means that people decide to, maybe because of their family’s beliefs or past experiences.
Examples of discrimination in these days:
• There’s the:• Gender discrimination • Racial discrimination • Religion discrimination • Nationality discrimination• Sexual orientation • College degree discrimination
Nazi acceptance to the Aryans:
• Nazi’s didn’t discriminate the Aryans because of them being supposedly the master or better race. They were, in Nazism and non-Nazism, a non-Jewish Caucasian, especially one of Nordic type. Was in Hitler’s point of view the better race.
