EnglishStudent must take an English class every year.

Enrollment
MathStudents must have a math class every year. Algebra IGeometryAlgebra IIHigher Level Math
ScienceYou must have 3 science credits to
graduate!Physical Science or 3rd Lab ScienceBiology IChemistry I or Physics I
All JCHS science courses are considered to be a “lab science.”
Social StudiesStudents must complete the following courses:World History/World GeographyU.S. HistoryEconomics U.S. GovernmentPersonal Finance

Can be satisfied by team sports, JROTC, PE courses, flag & rifle, and marching band. See your counselor for additional information.
JROTC: Satisfying Other Course RequirementsJROTC may fulfill certain graduation
requirements. Please see your school counselor for
additional information or consult the JCHS Curriculum Guide.
Foreign LanguageStudents may take either:
French , Spanish, German or Honors German, Latin
2 credits in the same foreign language will satisfy graduation requirements.
Fine ArtDuring high school, you are
required to complete 1 Fine Art credit.
Fine Art areas include:Visual ArtsTheatre ArtsChorusBand
Programs of StudyYou will need at least 3 classes in a Program of Study.

Advanced Placement (AP) ClassesThe Advanced Placement (AP) Program consists of college-
level courses and exams for high school students. AP courses make it possible for academically talented students to upgrade the quality and increase the challenge of their studies, both in high school and college.
AP enables students to receive college credit in particular subject areas upon satisfactory performance on the AP examination.
AP courses are offered contingent upon student enrollment requests.
Students have an opportunity to earn a GPA that exceeds 4.0 and stand out in the college/scholarship application process.
Students who enroll in AP courses at JCHS are required to take the AP exam at the end of the year.
Dual EnrollmentDual Enrollment is offered to juniors and
seniors giving them the opportunity to take college courses while still enrolled in high school.
The student is required to maintain a full course load (4 classes) between the high school and the post-secondary institution. Once classes begin, a student may not drop a course without prior approval of both the college and JCHS.
Requirements: 3.0 unweighted GPA or 21 ACT
Things to Keep in Mind…Pre-Requisites
Many classes have a pre-requisite that must be met before you can enroll in the course.

Auditions/ApplicationsCourses include:
Leadership Patriot Singers Women’s Chorus Flag & Rifle Yearbook
AthleticsCertain Sports Training classes are offered specifically to JCHS
athletic team participants. Students must receive a coach’s approval when enrolling in
these courses.
Registration: Alternate CoursesWhen completing the “Class Registration
Form” in the back of the JCHS Curriculum Guide:You MUST list 4 alternate courses!These courses WILL be used if a
requested course is full. Be sure that the courses chosen as
alternates are courses you want to take!!
IMPORTANT REMINDER!!!The classes you select during registration
are important!Make sure you are selecting classes you are
POSITIVE you want. Speak with your counselor to ensure you are
selecting classes you will be the most successful in!
*Schedule Changes*Students and parents are advised to select
courses with great care. A schedule change may be permitted with parental permission and building administrator approval.
Schedule changes are not guaranteed!Schedules will NOT be changed for classes you sign-up for during registration!
Registration DatesRising Senior Registration
March 30-April 1, 2015Students will register through their U.S.
History classes. AP U.S. History students will register on March 12,
2015 due to a course conflict.
Rising Junior RegistrationMarch 24-27, 2015Students will register through their Geometry
classes.
