Work History

Wilton Engineering Services LTD (10/2012 – Present) – Engineering Projects Manager

Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Projects Director, responsible for managing and delivering projects on schedule, on budget and to the required level of quality.

The controlling of project activities including construction, budgeting, monitoring variations, technical queries/deviations, procurement, project reporting (internal and client), scheduling, appointing and managing subcontractors and commissioning.

Act as the main point of contact for the client and work to ensure their ultimate satisfaction.

Manage the project team including construction leads, engineering, drafting, quality and Health and Safety functions.

The chairing of internal and external meetings, assigning actions to project team members and ensuring the delivery thereof.

Drafting subcontracts for subcontract work. Issuing tender packages, the assessment of received tenders and the appointment (including the subsequent management) of subcontractors.

Provide project technical support as required.

Significant Achievements:

The project engineering and management during the structural fabrication, testing and commissioning of 4 subsea towheads as part of the Dana Western Isles project. Holding overall responsibility for the delivery of the hydraulics controls system (Client Subsea 7 (completion estimated August 2015) – Project value circa £5m).

The project management during the manufacture, testing and commissioning of a Pipe Handling and Field Joint Coating System for use as part of vessel mounted J-Lay operations (Client: Subsea 7 – Project value circa £5m).

The project management and delivery of 12 fabrication scopes (including 2 umbilical spooling arms, a carousel access tower and umbilical product guides) as part of the Technip Newcaflex project (Client: Brastec SAS – Project value £1.3m).

The project management of several small fabrication work scopes requiring rapid response to meet client (such as Deep Ocean) deadlines (typically in line with vessel availability) including detailed design, procurement, manufacture and testing (Client: varies – Project value varies).

The management of a team of engineers and draftsmen conducting the detailed design of a quayside mounted loader arm for spooling umbilical products (Client: Confidential – Project value £170k).

The introduction of standard forms of engineering contracts for subcontract and consultancy works.

PD Teesport LTD (08/2009 – 09/2012) - Mechanical Projects Engineer

Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, responsible for all Mechanical Engineering activities across the PD Ports Group business (UK wide).

The main point of contact for mechanical design requirements or technical expertise to support port operations and maintenance functions.

Compiling of tender specifications and contract documents in accordance with the OJEU procurement directive.

The management of contractors on site including the review of risk assessments, method statements, specification and procedure and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation (such as CDM).

The issuing of work permits (general, hot work, confined spaces etc) and the monitoring of site activities across any PD Ports site.

Significant Achievements:

The procurement, testing and commissioning of 4 yard container cranes (in accordance with the OJEU process) to a value of £5m as part of an expansion programme for an existing container terminal governed by CDM regulations (total project value £17m).

The design, procurement, installation and commissioning on site of 2 screw fed bulk material handling systems to feed road going tankers and an automated bagging plant in accordance with CDM regulations as part of a site facility upgrade (total project value £200k).

The group wide identification of non compliant oil storage tank facilities and the successful implementation of replacement facilities including fuel management solutions as part of ISO 14001 accreditation (total project value £300k).

The safe demolition of redundant quayside cranes, bulk storage silos and petrochemical facilities in accordance with CDM regulations.

The standardisation of forms of contract for mechanical, electrical projects, minor civil works and demolition work scopes based on the IMechE MF1, NFDC, NEC and ICE Minor Works conditions of contract.

PD Teesport LTD (09/2005 – 08/2009) – Junior Mechanical Engineer

Reporting the Senior Mechanical Engineer, responsible for providing support to the Mechanical Engineering Function of the PD Ports group. gained experience in the production of 2D AutoCAD drawings, producing calculations, the tendering process, safe systems of work and the management of contractors on site.
