JATOBAHymenaea courbaril
Commonly known as Brazilian Cherry, our Jatoba is harvested from South America and is used for a variety of Millwork products such as furniture, cabin-etry, turned objects and other small specialty items. It is relatively hard to work with because of its density and interlocked grain. Jatoba is very durable and resistant to termites. Its heartwood varies from light orangish to brown to dark-er reddish brown, sometimes with contrasting darker grayer brown streaks. The colors will darken with age, especially upon exposure to light.
Appearance & GrainUniform Medium Reddish Brown. Straight or Interlocked with Slight Grain, Medium Uniform Texture.
