Dear families and friends of Bell P-10 State School,
WOW, week 7 already. Where has the time gone. We have had a good start here at Bell State
School, the students are working hard in the classrooms and we are starting to see some excellent results with assessments that have been completed. From this Wednesday, I will be taking 6 days leave and Mrs Rachel Pascoe will be Acting Principal while I am away. Students Code of Conduct Temporary Removal of Student Property The removal of any property in a student’s possession may be necessary to promote the caring, safe and supportive learning environment of the school, to maintain and foster mutual respect between all state school staff, students and visitors. Inappropriate Items to bring to school The following items are explicitly prohibited at Bell State School or other settings used by the school (e.g. camp, or sporting venues) and will be removed if found in a student’s possession: · Illegal items (e.g. drugs such as cannabis, ecstasy, or amphetamines) · Drugs** (Including tobacco) · Alcohol · Items that puts the safety or wellbeing or others at risk (e.g. knife, firearm, handcuffs, replica weapons, blades, rope, explosives, fireworks, flares, sparklers, flammable solids or liquids, poisons) · Items that do not preserve a caring, safe, supportive or productive learning environment (e.g. baton, nunchaku, club, chains, aerosol deodorants or cans) · Items that do not maintain and foster mutual respect (inappropriate or offensive material

Under emergency circumstances only, such as the need to access an EpiPen for anaphylactic emergency, principals or state school staff may need to search a student’s property with out the students’s consent or the consent of the student’s parents. · Consent is not required to search school property such as lockers, desks or laptops that are supplied to the student through the school. · Consent is required from the student or parent to open, examine or otherwise deal with the temporarily removed students property. For example, without the consent of the student or parent, principals or state school staff who temporarily remove a mobile phone from a student are not authorised to unlock the phone or to read, copy or delete messages stored on the phone. Have a good week, Jason.
