Jason’s Message Dear families and friends of Bell P-10 State School, WOW, week 7 already. Where has the time gone. We have had a good start here at Bell State School, the students are working hard in the classrooms and we are starting to see some excellent results with assessments that have been completed. From this Wednesday, I will be taking 6 days leave and Mrs Rachel Pascoe will be Acting Principal while I am away. Students Code of Conduct Temporary Removal of Student Property The removal of any property in a students possession may be necessary to promote the caring, safe and supportive learning environment of the school, to maintain and foster mutual respect between all state school staff, students and visitors. Inappropriate Items to bring to school The following items are explicitly prohibited at Bell State School or other settings used by the school (e.g. camp, or sporting venues) and will be removed if found in a students possession: · Illegal items (e.g. drugs such as cannabis, ecstasy, or amphetamines) · Drugs** (Including tobacco) · Alcohol · Items that puts the safety or wellbeing or others at risk (e.g. knife, firearm, handcuffs, replica weapons, blades, rope, explosives, fireworks, flares, sparklers, flammable solids or liquids, poisons) · Items that do not preserve a caring, safe, supportive or productive learning environment (e.g. baton, nunchaku, club, chains, aerosol deodorants or cans) · Items that do not maintain and foster mutual respect (inappropriate or offensive material such as racist literature, pornography, extremist propaganda, printed materials with offensive language) Removal of Student Property Property may be temporarily removed from a student if the principal or state school staff are reasonably satisfied the removal is necessary. · Preserve the caring, safe, supportive and productive learning environment of the school. · Maintain and foster mutual respect among staff and students at the school. · Encourage all students to take responsibly for their own behaviour and the consequences of their actions. · Provides for the effective administration of matters about the students of the school. Searching of Student Property Under normal circumstances, principal and state school staff members are not permitted to search student and students property unless they have the consent of the student or their parent. Under emergency circumstances only, such as the need to access an EpiPen for anaphylactic emergency, principals or state school staff may need to search a student s property with out the studentss consent or the consent of the students parents. · Consent is not required to search school property such as lockers, desks or laptops that are supplied to the student through the school. · Consent is required from the student or parent to open, examine or otherwise deal with the temporarily removed students property. For example, without the consent of the student or parent, principals or state school staff who temporarily remove a mobile phone from a student are not authorised to unlock the phone or to read, copy or delete messages stored on the phone. Dance Club in the Library Chloe came up with the wonderful idea of Dance Club and it’s held at lunchtimes in the school library. They have Dance Club sign in, they choose their music and are dressed in their finest dance attire!

Hudson: for being an Active Learner for his incredible building and teamwork in the construction area. Byanca: for being an Active Learner for her detailed drawings in recalling events from her favourite story. Laura: for being an Active Learner for writing an excellent personal response to a narrative. Amelia: for being an Active Learner for reading with increased fluency and expression. Will: for being an Active Learner for getting all of his spelling words correct each Friday. Morgan: for being an Active Learner for practicing her teen numbers. Lachlan W: for being an Active Learner for achieving an outstanding mark in his biology assessment last week. Breanna: for being an Active Learner for showing 'grit' and 'determination' when completing her biology assessment last week and achieving a great result. Ben G: for being an Active Learner for knowing his 2x’s table off by heart. Gain: for being Respectful for being settled and quiet in PC time.

Skill Term 1, Week 7: Stay Safe in the Playground /

Use Playground Equipment Properly

Context Playground

Introduction Today we are going to talk about BEING SAFE in the playground. To help us get started we are going to brainstorm all the things we see being done in the play-ground that are ways to stay safe. For ex-ample we need to play only in approved areas as this helps to keep us safe. Brainstorm other ideas with students; record these ideas on butchers paper or similar.

Darling Downs Swim Trials Last Tuesday Finnian and Taite swam at the Darling Downs Swim Trials 13 years and over held in Gatton. On the Wednesday Lachlan and Charlie swam at the Darling Downs Swim Trials for 12 years and under. All boys swam really well and a lot of pb’s were achieved. Congratulations boys!

Book Club Book Club orders due back by next Monday the 15th March, 2021.

P&Cs are required to hold their Annual General Meeting by the end of March every year. The AGM is held so that the P&C Association can:

receive and adopt the associations’ audited financial statements

report activities of the previous year to the members

accept new and renew existing memberships for the association

elect an executive committee

confirm continuance of existing subcommittees and/or establish new subcommittees

appoint an auditor for the coming financial year

adopt the Student Protection Risk Management Strat-egy

adopt a new version of the Constitution if needed

award life membership to the P&C – if any.

Bell State School P&C AGM will be held on the 17th March 2021.

All executive positions will be vacated at the AGM

and nominations will be called.

Thank you for having us take your children’s school photos again this year. We always enjoy

coming to your school and are proud to be recording history for your family and school.

If you happened to forget your envelope (or it was left in the bottom of the school bag),
