“I’m excited to announce this Coalition funding commitment of $1.5 million for the construction of a basketball centre at Emerald Primary School,” Mr Wood said.

“Our funding announcement means the facility is now fully funded and can be built.

“This facility will cater for both school students and the Emerald Lakers Basketball Club who urgently require a home base and training ground for it s 300 plus members, who play in 35 teams.

“The Coalition made this commitment because the existing facility used by students of Emerald Primary School, the Emerald Lakers Basketball Club and other community groups is scheduled to be demolished.

“The new facility needs to be constructed now to ensure that our local sporting clubs have first class facilities to keep fit and healthy, as well as having fun.”

“It has been a pleasure to work with Principal of Emerald Primary School, Mark Carver, and the rest of the school community. This funding will help create an even better education experience for our local kids, as well as a community facility for basketball teams and other groups to use throughout the year.”
