2 CONCEPTUALISATION
Grasshopper is a program that uses algorithms and numbers in the form codings and wires to create different shapes and possibilities in Rhino. The use of Grasshopper is much more simple to combine with codes to enhance the quality of design. The program allows parametric modelling combining Rhino and Grasshopper. The models can be easily modified with changes to parameters and connecting wires.
Algorithm Sketch #01
The first sketch on Grasshopper is to create a five construct point component. This is comprised of five number sliders with a range of 0-100. The sliders were then connected to the Z point of all the construct points.
Slider 2 is connected to the X and Y input of the first construct point, and to the X and Y input of the last construct. It is also connected to the X input of the second construct point and the Y input of the fourth construct point. The second slider is connected to the Y of the second construct point.
Slider 3 is connected to the X and Y of the second construct while slider 4 is connected to the X of the fourth construct point. This gives us 4 points in Rhino.
A polyline component is added to connect the constructs.
A loft component is created to close up the boxes and the points. To finish off, a cap component is added. The sliders variables are changed to construct 4 different types of structures.
The conclusion of this exercise is to demonstrate the use of Grasshopper to create an object in Rhino rather than creating a shape from scratch in Rhino.
