Built 1988 to become a personi cation of the company and to connect the exterior to the interior, Enriching Spaces developed their foot hold in the world with their facility. Nestled in a wooded area and using nature as inspiration, they designed their very own place of operation. Heading this company is Dawn Shwartzman, an energetic up-starter with the idea that space and place is a message. Working with this ideal, Enriching Spaces started up as a boutique style business appealing to many companies due to the ability to communicate on a smaller scale. However in time, they have developmed into a more professional organization, delivering quality and awareness to clients. They have moved away from the entrepreneur-based aspect of the business to a more managerial stance. Now, their main source of product comes from HermanMiller.

Many aspects of the Enriching Spaces facility are unique to their style of business. From the moment you enter the door you are greeted by what the company refers to as a totem. This totem instantly reveals the company’s thoughts and feelings about design as well as expressing a stylized example of their work. To the right of the entrances is their very own working showroom and shop where they sell their own products as well as display them in a setting that matches that of an o ce environment. They don't just stop there with the products however. Throughout their o ce they have incorporated the products they sell, and this is something that they want to express to the world. They are so con dent in their products that they use them on an everyday basis.

The o ce portion of the facility is divided up into zone-like portions that hold di erent uses. For instances they have cubicles were they sit and work independently while next to this section is a set of chairs and a table. Then, a couple steps away is a couch. This utilizes the idea of

exibility, adaptability, mobility. They value the ability to work anywhere that best suits your need and to have the option to move and interact with the space. The o ce also holds a workroom full of crafting utensils and a fully functioning materials library that showcases many products. Beside this library is a theater that they use for many purposes.

To further push the idea of presentation and exibility, along side their o ces is another space that contains pre-built xtures and pre-arranged spaces that utilize many di erent functions. For instance, they have created a conference type setting with a television, table and chairs, while immediately next to it, a waiting room has been set up consisting of chairs and side tables. These preview spaces are presented in a way that demonstrates the uses of the furniture sold in environments that they would naturally be used in.

TO UNDERSTAND ENRICHING SPACES WE MUST UNDERSTAND THEIR THOUGHTS ON SPACE AND ITS FUCTIONS. BY PRACTICING THE IDEALS OF FLEXIBILITY, ADAPTABILITY AND MOBILITY, THEY ARE BETTER ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THEIR PRODUCTS AND PASS ON THESE IDEALS TO THEIR CLIENTS.

When working on any given project, individuals seek many different types of spaces to f acilitate their personal needs. One such I nstance i s secluded spaces. These spaces a re defined by the ability to hold an individual to a private setting where many people find best to process and produce work. Often this is the space that is utilized early in the process of any given project.

Regarded a s a friendly meeting s pot, cooperation s paces w ithin Enriching Spaces, are defined by the furniture, or lack thereof, and its location.

For instance, in close proximity of a collection of cubicles is a waist high document cabinet. Set-up as a n island, t his cabinet h as been u tilized as a m eeting spot f or e mployees t o break out a nd interact with one another in a quick, standing-up pow-wow. This space contains only the cabinet, but p rovides a mple room for m ovement and due t o its l ocation, allows for e asy i ntegration of outside in uences.

In e ssence, t his is the space that business gets done. S traight forward and productive, these spaces are devoted to collaborating with other associates and working out a soulution, then producing said soulution.

The nal step in any procedure is execution. This extends to spaces as well. Often, these spaces require a u se o f technology o r means of p resentation to r eveal ndings t o the collection of individuels. More often than not, in an execution space, many seats are o erd due to the quantity of individuels that take place in the senerio. Unlike a cooperation however, these meetings that occur are not as eeting or simple. S eldom does a n execution space get used for s hort r allies. Instead it is seen as a confrence type area.
