PharmacoEconomics & Outcomes News 381 - 21 Sep 2002 Japanese cumulative sales of the nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) chewing gum ‘Nicorette’ have reached ¥9 billion ($US76 million) since its launch in September 2001, according to Takeda Chemical Industries and Pharmacia KK, reports Marketletter. More than one million smokers have used ‘Nicorette’, which was the first over-the-counter (OTC) smoking-cessation aid available in Japan, to help them stop smoking, and an estimated 40% have succeeded, says Pharmacia.
