These four rolls have changed the lives …

… of these kids in Janwaar. A small village 7 km away from Panna, MP.

This is their skatepark, the biggest in entire India. It has become their new home.

The skatepark was built in 3.5 month by 12 volunteers from seven countries. With local labour. (December 2014 - March 2015)

It was hard work … more often than not nightshift was required ….

And right from the beginning the local kids were involved. They were really curious what was going on – but they couldn't figured out what it was. A skatepark?

Today with ….

… or without shoes

… the kids master the skateboards incredibly well.

Girls equally well as boys.

And they've learnt it all by themselves … no teacher required!

And they're really good at it. Skateboarders who came from Goa to teach the kids had to admit, that the Janwaar kids were better than the "teachers" :-)

All age groups …

Our early morning Yoga sessions and exercises are a highlight of the day ….

… and the kids unfold their creativity when they paint the skatepark. They just love it!

They do all kind of things besides skateboarding – slackline, hula hub, music …

… and they learn English with our volunteers. Even the teachers at the government school do!

With five tablets they explore games, videos and interactive learning programs. Internet / Network access would leverage the outreach tremendously.

… and with electronic bricks they build little robots, mp2-players and all kind of other "toys". These bricks are "Made in India". The children love them.

With Arunaraje Patil, a well-known filmmaker from Bombay, the kids learned about documentaries and other films besides Bollywood in our newly built bamboo house.

The bamboo house is lovely – so nice and cool. In there the kids keep all their learning materials, toys and tools.

Sometimes the Janwaar kids have guests from Delhi. Here they are with the Prakriti students from Noida …

… and sometimes they themselves go to Delhi and explore city life.

Taking the night train from Delhi to Khajuraho is an adventure ….

They've visited an organic farm close to Khajuraho ….

… and they visited the temples. Unfortunately they haven't seen the tiger when we went to Panna National Park.

During last years summer camp the children not only got certificates for their achievements …

… they also got the meanwhile legendary Janwaar Castle T-shirts. Real collector items – everyone wants to have one :-)

The latest toy so to speak is the solid and robust swing we've built.

It was a common effort and not easy to get it done …

… and now the kids love it …

… and use it in whatever way they feel like!

On our Facebook page the kids were running the "Rural Changemakers" social media campaign ….

It was photographed by Vicky Roy, a young meanwhile very famous Indian photographer …

… and the phrases which you read on the skateboards ….

… say exactly what the kids have been telling us !

Because of this campaign one child received a scholarship !

Two rules have changed their lives – the kids go much more often to school …

… and girls are always first - in what ever is happening at Janwaar Castle!
