Thank you to the Channel Chapter for a wonderful “PEACE, LOVE, & JPS” Convention. All of your hard work to make our visit to Webster was evident from the comfortable, cozy rooms to the delicious and fulfilling meals. It is always a delight to meet up with fellow JPS members from other chapters. Very memorable moments from this year’s convention Include the flag ceremony to our Armed Services and the heartfelt Memorial Service to our late members and sponsors. Thank you for putting together such a lovely convention and making us feel so welcomed.

Dear JPS Members:

My time to step away from the JPS National Board has come. I would

just like to say thank you to all the members for making my time

enjoyable and memorable. I have enjoyed the past 5 years on the

National Board, serving as treasurer for two terms, then as your

President for the last three years. I appreciate the support and love I

have gotten from the Bartlesville Chapter, and all the other chapters.

And as you all know I have had the support and love of my husband,

Greg, I couldn’t have done it without him encouraging me on. A huge

thank you to Patricia, Pattie, Joan and Sharon, who made my job easy

this past year. Pattie, Patricia, Debbie, Joan and Shannon, enjoy this

year, don’t let small things get in the way of the larger JPS picture.

Convention was great, “Love, Peace, & JPS”, Sally and Kathy you did a

tremendous job of hosting convention. I’m looking forward to “Denim

and Diamonds” next June in the Woodlands.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to represent you all.

If you recall the Goodbye song from the Sound of Music, So Long,

Farewell, it is time for me to go.

July 2019 Karen Lutke, Reporter Aunt Jane photobombed our selfie!

It was a great convention in Webster, TX! We had lots of fun and the food and service were

excellent. Many thanks to the Channel Chapter, Sally and Kathy!! And thank you, Roger

Villarreal, for raiding your wife’s jewelry box and giving away beautiful door prizes! I’m sure

there is more to that story….. The flag ceremony was very moving.

At the Saturday luncheon, our speaker was Heather Miller, Director of Education at the Armand

Bayou Nature Center. We were very impressed with the classes they put on for disadvantaged

children. These children, for various reasons, are not able to get outside and learn about nature.

Later that afternoon, Elaine Stevens and I drove out to the Nature Center and took a short tour.

We were disappointed to not find any alligators but did see some very BIG SPIDERS (in webs off

the trail)! We highly recommend going to visit the Nature Center next time you are in the

neighborhood.

On Friday night there were some great skits for our National Officer Candidates.

To find out who is in this picture and why, come to the July General Membership

Meeting and see the reenactment of some candidate skits. Details in the local

newsletter. We will also have a Book Swap! Bring some books, take home some

new books.

At the Special Called meeting in June, we voted to donate a metal bench to Kiddie

Park in memory of Mona Been and to sponsor the Train Ride at Kiddie Park for

one evening this summer. The Kiddie Park was always special to Mona and it

seems a good way to pass on her generosity and kindness.

Sunfest was wonderful! The weather behaved and the crew did a great job

minimizing muddy spots. Over a dozen of us manned the Information Booth for the

length of the festival. It is always a joy to watch all the people who attend and be

able to help where needed.

Kathy Humphries rounded up her group of Bingo assistants to play some games at

our local Long-term care facility June 24. Our own members, Helen Morgan and

June Ruddick, were there to play. Always fun to see them and help the residents

win their Bingo prizes. Kathy does a great job providing appropriate and

appreciated prizes for the winners. Grover Shelts is our designated ‘Caller’.

Enjoyed seeing old friends and new at Webster TX. Can’t wait for Convention next

year at The Woodlands! One more Convention picture; Sandy Mason and

daughter Tami.

Maybe someone will send me more pictures of Convention attendees and events for

next month’s JANUES.

Greetings from Oklahoma City,

Convention in Webster, Texas was a great success thanks to the outstanding efforts

of the Channel Chapter. Thank you Sally and Kathy – everything was wonderful!

We truly appreciate all your hard work.

Marianne McEwin and I were the only Oklahoma City Chapter members able to

attend this year.

Marianne and her husband Ray took several of us to Kemah for dinner at Landry’s.

To say it was wonderful would be an understatement.

did not get a picture of that. Kathy did a lovely service and the new officers are to

be congratulated.

For those of you who were unable to attend, we missed you. I hope to see

everyone in The Woodlands, Texas in June 2020.
