Year” to everyone! We are off to a

very good start for 2011!

Our annual Member’s Banquet was a

success. Everyone enjoyed a fun night

and everyone was 99% satisfied with

food service and entertainment. Our

attendance was over 570 people for our

New Year’s Eve festivities. Again I believe

that there was 99% satisfaction. Food

and service were great according to the

reports I am getting from those who

attended. Will we ever reach 100% satis-

faction? I hope not; because then there is

no room for improvement and everyone

will begin to ease off--- so let us be satis-

fied with room for improvement as long as

there are no major problems to contend

with!

This year we have lot of exciting events

planned and I ask for the total member-

ship to support what we are doing. We

have many dedicated and talented mem-

bers who are devoting a lot of their time

into making our 50th anniversary events a

success. I ask again for our members to

participate in these activities as we try to

commemorate and celebrate our past.

Please stay tuned for further announce-

ments as we get closer to the scheduled

dates for these activities.

ANNUAL DUES: Annual dues of $60

are now due as of January 1st. It is

your responsibility to make payment in

order to keep your membership intact.

If you have any questions as to how

much you owe, please speak with

Angie in the office at 519-966-2230.

NOTE: If total payment of $60 is not

received by February 28, your mem-

bership will no longer be valid.

MEMBERS PRIOR TO 2006 WHO

PURCHASED THE $300 BOND:

In 2005, a change to the constitution

was passed citing that all members

must pay $60 dues per year com-

mencing January 1, 2006. Those with

a $300 bond had the value reduced

$60 per year for 5 years. The 5 years

expired in 2010, HOWEVER, a bonus

year was given and 2011 marks the

bonus year. Therefore, any member

who had a bond is exempt for 2011.

Starting 2012, all members under 65

with a minimum of 10 years of active

membership will be required to pay

$60 annual dues to maintain active

membership in the Fogolar Furlan

Club. Further information will follow

during the year.

Women’s AssociationNews

The next Fogolar Furlan Women’s

Association dinner meeting will be held

on January 27 at 6:30pm. The annual

membership dues is also payable at

this time.

Also in Nov-

ember, we

held our first cooking lesson,

featuring everyone’s favourite -

- Crostoli! This was just the first

of many cooking classes we

intend on having in the upcom-

ing year.

For 12 weeks in the fall, the

Youth Bocce players honed

their skills. In December, the

children were playing here at

the Fogolar. The Youth Bocce

league will be starting up again

in the Spring, so if your children

are interested please phone

the office for information.

The annual Christmas

Member’s Banquet took place

on December 18th. Guests

were treated to the voices of

our youth choir Gotis di

Rosade as well as the Alpini

Choir. Following the opening

remarks, everyone enjoyed an

excellent meal and an excep-

tional toast from our President

Cesare Pecile.

The following day, the children

got to meet Santa Claus at the

annual Children’s Christmas

Party held by the Fogolar

Furlan Women’s Association.

The final event of the year was

the Fogolar Family Skate event

held on December 27th. About

60 members and children par-

ticipated in this annual free

skate at Lanspeary Park. The

skaters were treated to a warm

lunch with pasta, chicken and

potatoes back at the Fogolar.

And lastly, the Gotis di Rosade

played their last performance

of the year at the WFCU

Centre. The choir sang the

national anthem before the

Windsor Spitfires’ New Years

Eve game. We are trying to

obtain photos from this event to

Il 17 dicembre scorsco abbiamo termi-

nato le gare autunnali di shuffleboard,

con la partecipazione di 14 squadre. I

migliori giocatori e giocatrici sono stati i

seguenti: Al primo posto si sono qualifi-

cati Alba Modolo e Dolores Todero,

seguite da Rina Nadalin e Mario Piccolo.

Al terzo posto sono arrivati Mirella

Nadalin e Marcello Rose. Quarti si sono

classificati Gina Turrin e Roger Mariuz.

Abbiamo trascorso diverse ore insieme

in perfetta armonia; ci siamo divertiti a

giocare a carte ed al biliardo e siamo

anziosi di riprendere i giochi prevvisti

per il 25 gennaio.

Carnevale takes place this year on

Sunday, March 6 at 3pm. We ask all

guests to bring a canned good for

admission. All donations will go to the

Downtown Mission. The Women’s

Association will be selling crostoli. We

are also looking for volunteers. If you

are interested in helping out please con-

NEW WEBSITE

On December 22, just in time for

the holiday season, the newly

designed Fogolar Furlan Windsor

website was launched. The new

design bears our 50th anniver-

sary branding as well as a new

user-friendly layout with larger

text and photos. The photos sec-

tion has been updated to give vis-

itors and potential customers a

better visual of what we have to

offer here. Watch the site for

updates on all the festivities

planned for our upcoming 50th

anniversary year. We encourage

all members to visit the new site

and share it with their friends!

ITALIAN OF THE YEAR

This year we celebrate a very

special person as Italian of the

Year; this year it is no ordinary

Italian, it is a Furlan! We are

proud to announce that Loris

Macor has been chosen as the

2011 Italian of the Year. Loris will

be honoured at the annual ban-

quet held at the Caboto Club on

Saturday, March 5, 2011. We

would like as many of our mem-

bers as possible to come out to

support Loris and celebrate this

outstanding achievement. Please

In early November 2010 a call went out to all

members announcing the opening of a new

management position here at the Fogolar

Furlan. For those of you who were not able

to hear the results of our search at our

Tim Mussio. We hope everyone will

welcome Tim back to the Fogolar with open
