• It is my first DCON. What should I expect?

District Convention is just the right combination of business, service, and fun! We have workshops, elections, service, awards dinner, and a murder mystery event after dinner. Things will start at 10 PM on Friday.

• What should I wear?

On the first night, clubs generally wear their club shirts. Bring some service clothes for the projects on Saturday. There are occasions where you will need to wear business or business casual. Delegates must wear business to House of Delegates. Here is a link to a very good guide if you are not sure what that means: http://blog.attend.com/decoding-the-dress-code-how-to-dress-for-an-event . There are more specifics on the Packing List link on page 3.

• What is our service project going to be?

There are 2 projects: Roadrunner Food Bank or Albuquerque Storehouse. They are both food banks, but the storehouse also does clothes. We will also be doing no sew projects throughout the weekend.

• I want to run for district office. Where do I start?

The first thing you can do is create your info flyer. This basically tells people about you, why they should vote for you, it can include a pic, etc. We give this info out to the delegates at House of Delegates. At the Potential Candidate Information link on page 3, there is information about your speech and the time limits. You will need someone to nominate you and second that when the floor is open for the position you want. Read up on the link (pg. 3) and if you still have questions, contact either Taylor Engleman or Katie Merrill (pg. 9).

Meet Windy!

Along with all the other exciting things that are coming with DCON, we will also be welcoming our new Administrator: Windy Zachek. Windy was born in Silver City, New Mexico and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. She completed her BA in Psychology and MA in Guidance Counseling at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. She is the CEO of Oakcraft and has been in Kiwanis for 15 years. Everyone who meets Windy loves and admires her for her contagious smile and pure kindness . We are very lucky to have Windy with us in 2015!

My favorite part of Kiwanis

is seeing amazing young

people (like you) evolve into shining

stars!
