Spirit Boat Directions: Totem boats for personal journeys.

Join Jennifer Ewing in the Artist Studio as she continues to explorethe theme of spirit boats, a metaphor for her own journey in paintings,

    drawings, collages, sculptures, and installations.

Visitors are encouraged to explore their own paths by making boats in the form of a drawing, collage or

sculpture. A sense of identity can be engendered by creating a tribute to a person or family as a totem or symbol.

Every month the museum invites artists to install and demonstrate their art form at the de Young. This interactive program enables visitors tomeet artists and gives the artists an opportunity to work with the public. Artists working in various media are encouraged to apply.

The Artist Studio program is supported by the Fleishhacker Foundation. Thank you to Aveleda Winery for its in-kind support.
