on in the years to come. Voice Media Partners have already begun to expand

our company into other areas such as distribution for the band All New Epi-

sode. We plan to continue to expand this company into new and better areas

as well as improve the areas we have already discovered. After all the mas-

terminds behind Voice Media Partners, dream of bigger and better things to

come for this company every day. You could say they are always in their mad

science lab mixing and changing this fast growing company’s image. There-

fore, in this upcoming year you will see and read about the new projects al-

Bio:

Voice Media was originally The Longmont Voice. Voice Media is a new is a

new publication that was first developed by an idea that Sarah had when we were

talking one day. She said that she thought that there was too much negativity in

newspapers. I was looking into an opportunity with a publisher who was looking for

a manager. They said that they developed local publications for homeowner associa-

tion neighborhoods that were in an upper class community. I asked why they chose

select neighborhoods and was told that it would be easier to obtain advertisers be-

cause you would be marketing to well off neighborhoods.

I disagreed with this logic because I felt that it was profiling people and was

not the type of ethics I wanted to use. After thinking about what Sarah said and this

job opportunity, I decided to merge the two ideas together. What if we established a

magazine that was local and provided a positive voice for the community? The idea

sounded great.

I personally have been self-employed for some time working in computer

programming, design, online marketing as well as business branding and consulta-

tion. I have also done animation and visual effects. I had all of the programs for mak-

ing the publication digital, as well as the know-how of how to make a digital maga-

zine successful as I have consulted and worked with print magazines on how to go

digital. This was how The Longmont Voice was developed. We put ideas together and

when we were finally ready, we launched the announcement that The Longmont

Voice was going to come into existence.

I am a business owner and have been for years. Sarah and I both own business-

es together besides The Longmont Voice and we know how expensive advertising and

marketing is. This is why we have made the Longmont Voice business friendly in our

advertising within this publication. Two people run this entire operation along with

many other operations that we run.

So get involved with Voice Media. Send us your articles. Let us know

something good and we will publicize it for you for free. Whether it’s a birthday, an-

nouncement or you just had something really good that you wanted to share. This is

your magazine America.

Sincerely, Voice Media

K.L. Phair not only is one of the founders of Voice Media Partners who also

is in charge of the new division called Voice Comics, but he also is a pub-

lished author who has had not only two previously published novels, but

also is working on another novel that was inspired after 9/11.

The upcoming novel called “World Falling Down” not only focuses on 9/11,

but also creates a fictional story around the true event. This novel dives in-

to the heroes of that tragic day and gives an inside look as to how 9/11 not

only changed the world, but how it affected people individually.

9/11 was the beginning point that created historical events, not only for

the United States, but also triggered other events such as the London Bombings and inspired other ter-

rorist attacks such as the Boston Marathon Bombing as well as domestic terrorism such as school

shootings.

World Falling Down serves to give tribute and recognize those domestic heroes who gave their lives

within our countries walls and to allow us to see how that day truly influenced people near and far.

K.L. Phair serves to inspire us with a moving story that captures imaginary characters based on true

events.

“When I first came up with the idea I was honestly really particular about how this book should be

written,” K.L. Phair says. “This was such a huge event that really impacted people and still impacts us to-

day that I did not want to create a story that did not give someone a feeling as if these things could really

happen. When I created the characters I did research on the different emergency response crews as well

as put myself in the scenario of what did these people feel in that moment? What personal things could

they have had going on in their lives? Literally, there were people calling their loved ones and saying how

they were going to die. It was such a tragic moment, that I wanted to create it with a possible reality to

give tribute to the emotions that occurred that day. We never will be able to feel the direct loss of losing

a loved one like the victims’ families did. But I wanted people to have a glimpse of the pride of the teams

that went in and helped others giving no regard to their own lives, but rather focusing on the lives of

others which to me is true heroism.”

coming novel set to be released in the winter of 2014.

Always make sure you call the restaurant in advance for a reservation. This will help your server be better pre-

pared for your party as well as the seating arrangements will be ready when your party arrives.

Keep in mind that you’re obligated to show up if you make a large reservation. Some restaurants may ask for a

deposit, which is standard, considering that extra staff may be needed to accommodate the group. If some-

thing happens and you have to break the reservation, call as soon as possible and let them know so they can

release the spot.

Tipping is customary. However, with large groups, restaurateurs sometimes automatically include a gratuity of

between 15 and 20% with your bill. You’re welcome to add to that.

Don’t ask for ten separate checks. Two checks is usually okay, but beyond that you’re causing a headache.

Work out who’s paying in advance. Your poor planning isn’t your server’s problem.

Be a group you’d like to sit next to. It’s understandable that a group of ten people might get a little louder

than a table of four, but keep it reasonable. Shouting, loud laughing and joking around with your friends is

okay in a private space, but in public, its just annoying to everyone else.

If you make a mess, clean it up or give an extra tip. Big groups, especially with small children, are a nightmare

to clean up after. Try to keep chaos under control. If things get a little out of hand, be sure to leave some ex-

tra gratuity for the poor souls left behind to pick up.

Since our pet of the month is a bearded dragon that is available for adopting we wanted to make sure you

all knew how to take care of him if you decided to be his loving home.

How to Choose a Healthy Bearded Dragon You will want to make sure that the bearded dragon you choose is healthy before your purchase. Therefore, there are

a few easy things to look for to determine the health of the bearded dragon:

Look for Past Injuries and Wounds Look for Missing Body Parts

Look for at Their Heads Alertness

Bearded Dragon Diet and Nutrition Feeding your bearded dragon the right food and keeping him/her on a diet will increase your beardies life span, in-

crease the deepness of their color, and increase their mood.

Diet Basics Bearded dragons are omnivores, which mean they will eat both insects and vegetables. Your bearded dragon's diet will depend on his/her age. Younger bearded dragons will eat 80% insects and 20% vegeta-bles, while adult bearded dragons will eat 20% insects and 80% vegetables. Feeding Young Bearded Dragons Young bearded dragons are quickly growing, and because of this they will require much more insects than fruit and vegetables. Many owners claim that it is sometimes difficult to get younger beardies to eat their vegetables, so you should leave the vegetables in their cage during the day while they're awake. You should feed your bearded dragon as many crickets as they can eat within a 10-15 minute period three times per day. After 15 minutes you should remove any uneaten crickets from your bearded dragon's cage. On average, expect your bearded dragon to eat anywhere between 20-60 crickets (or other insects) per day.

Feeding Adult Bearded Dragons Adult bearded dragons will eat much less insects than younger dragons. This is less exciting to watch, but it is a lot cheaper! If you overfeed an adult bearded dragon he/she can easily become overweight or unhealthy. Adults main diet will be vegetables, but once per day you will want to feed them insects. You will feed adults insects the same way you feed younger bearded dragons. Once per day feed them as many crickets/insects they can eat within a 15 minute time period. After 15 minutes remove the food form their tank.

Bathing Bearded Dragons

Misting Your Bearded Dragon's Cage Bathing Frequency You can bathe bearded dragons as often as once per day, but most bearded dragon owners will only bathe their bearded dragon this frequently to aid in bowl movements. Preparing the Bath Water Temp - The ideal temperature of the water should be around 94-96 F°. While bearded drag-ons can swim, you should never fill the bath where your bearded dragon cannot easily keep his head out of the water. Ideally the water should be no higher than his/her elbows on their front legs (usually about 1-2 inches deep depending on the size of your dragon). Bathing Location –You can bathe your bearded dragon in a bathtub, sink, or even in a large Tupper-ware container. As long as you can easily rinse off your beardie then it's okay. However, it is more fun to watch the dragon swim around in bathtubs. Keep in mind that you will need to thoroughly clean whatever you bathe your dragon in both before and after you give your beardie a bath. The Bath – You should let your bearded dragon bathe for 10-30 minutes. If your dragon is shed-ding, you may want to gently rub the problem areas (toes, feet, tail, etc.) with a soft brush or a washcloth. After the Bath – After you've bathed your beardie you will want to dry him/her off with a soft dry tow-el. Many owners will do a quick cleaning of their beardies tank before putting their now clean bearded dragon back into his/her tank.

Ok ladies we all know that New Year’s Eve is the night that re-

quires that our makeup last longer than usual. Whether you have

big plans or small plans, you’ll want to keep your look radiant,

smear-, smudge- and streak-free. Here are a few tips on how to

do that:

Eyes:

Prep your eyes with lid primer. Now, apply a neutral shade to

set the primer and absorb any oils before adding your other

shadows. Now get a liquid or gel liner (not a pencil) for a line

that won’t disappear. Heat up your eyelash curler by waving a

hair dryer over your curler before using it, and be careful when

applying! Lightly dust a translucent powder over the tops of your lashes before applying mascara to give your lashes

more oomph and make the mascara last longer. Waterproof mascara is more resilient than non-waterproof mascara.

Face:

Apply a foundation primer to your skin before adding any foundation to make sure it doesn’t slide off. After you apply

your foundation, set it with a light powder when finished to preserve your work. A cream blush is a great way to

achieve a pretty flush that won’t disappear.

Lips:

Apply lip moisturizer at the beginning of your routine to make sure it is absorbed before it’s time to apply any color.

Line your lips and fill them in with the pencil to provide a nice base to your color. Apply your lip color with a brush

in quick brushstrokes to fill in every tiny crack and ensure that your color is smooth and fully covers your pout.

For Touch-Ups:

Now we all know that at some point in our evenings we will need to touch up this great look so keep the essentials on

hand such as:

A powder compact

Lip color

Concealer for quick fixes and touch-ups

Page 20: January of 2014 Issue

Tis the season for dry skin.

Now that winter is here our skin

tends to dry out from the lack of

moister. A home remedies that

works like magic is coconut oil.

What you do is rub coconut oil all

over your body after every shower and every time

you shave from your head to your toes. One week

later you will see no more cellulite, shrunken pores

on your face, will help

mend any split ends you

may have, takes the bags

under your eyes away,

lengthens eyelashes and

even heals cracked and

peeling lips.
