base of regular customers. “People love our buttermilk and sweet cream pancakes,” Misener says. “Then from October through December, we serve pumpkin pancakes and in January, we’ll have potato cakes. We make all of our soups in-house. Our burgers are fresh and hand-pressed. We are all about good quality at a good price.”

But what makes The Palm Café so unique, Misener says, is that their clientele becomes almost like family. “To us, it’s about the relationships we’ve built,” she says. “Our food is good, but I feel like some of our customers come in more for the atmosphere of friendship. We’ve been very lucky that we have gained the support of the local people.”

Some of that local appreciation comes

from the generosity of The Palms Café in giving back to the community. “We do a lot of donations,” Misener says. “Last year we opened for dinner and our proceeds went to Jewett Elementary School and Crater High School drama departments. It was so much fun and such a great success, we plan on this being an annual event. We also donate to the Crater Foundation and many local sports programs.”

Owning a restaurant is challenging, but Misener feels they’ve been blessed. “Our customers are what make us a success,” she says. “We have built not just a business, but real relationships. We have created an environment that people want to come back to. It’s been an amazing journey.”
