Bagged Meals for the Homeless: St. Ann will be preparing bagged meals for the homeless at 4:45 p.m. in the Parish Hall on Tuesday October 18th, 2011. Come and be part of one of the wonderful things St. Ann Parish does to help others in our community. 2nd Collection on January 22nd, 2011 for the Church in Latin America: In two weeks, we will take up the Collection for the Church in Latin America. Many unique challenges face the Church in that region. A lack of priests and trained lay ministers, high emigration rates, and the alarming pace at which parishioners are leaving the faith make it difficult for the region’s Church to provide for the faithful. It is more important than ever that we keep faith with the Church in Latin America and the Caribbean. If you are able, please give.

Attention readers! Just a reminder to start saving your used books because we will be collecting them for the 2nd Annual St. Ann Used Book Fair, to take place on February 12 in coordination with a Valentines Bake Sale in the Parish Hall. We will be collecting books the week before. Organizers are also looking for volunteers to help with this very fun event! Please contact Kelley Vlahos, St. Ann School parent, at [email protected] or at 703-465-5172.

Opportunities for Young Children during the 11:00 a.m. Mass: Children’s’ Liturgy of the Word Children ages 5 and above who have not yet received First Communion are invited to the chapel during the Liturgy of the Word. Led by adult volunteers they will hear and discuss the day’s reading in simpler terms. This is for children who are comfortable leaving their parents and who can sit quietly for 20 minutes. Nursery Children ages 1-5 are welcome in the Nursery (Room 137 0n the lower level of the Church) during the entire 11:00 a.m. Mass. They participate in prayer and songs during a short service. There is also time for snack and free play. This is a drop-in basis program and is supervised by adult volunteers. No pre-registration is required. If you are interested in volunteering for either program, or if you have any questions, contact the Religious Education Office and 703-528-6199. In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the Parish Offices will be closed on Monday, January 16th, 2012. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 17th, 2012. Thank you!
