January 4, 2013

Greetings Rutherford Families,

I hope you all had a wonderful winter break and a Happy New Year. It is hard to believe that we are starting 2013. It is always a time to reflect upon the year and look forward to the year ahead.

Last month our Character Counts color was blue, which represented trustworthiness. This month our color is green, which represents responsibility. We are going to work on doing what we are suppose to do, persevere, keep on trying, always do our best, use self-control, be self-disciplined, think before you act and set good examples for others!

Here are the names from the “elephant tickets” that were drawn for the month of December:

Congratulations to all our students who earned tickets (there were many!) Keep up the great effort.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Warmest Regards,

Heather Nelson

DAVINCI FEST

Da Vinci Fest, a Science, Art and Technology Fair, will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Stillwater Area High School.  Last year over 3,000 visitors attended this free event, which featured over 700-student art and science projects from students grades 4-12, along with 60 exciting hands on exhibits.

The event is a wonderful way to showcase the artistic and scientific creativity of the students in the district.  In fact, a number of students move on and are very successful at the regional and state science competitions.

The Exhibitor Fair is one more way the Da Vinci Fest helps to make science and art come alive for kids.  The exhibitors offer interactive activities to help kids get excited about learning.  Kids can meet real-life inventors, archaeologists, biologists, artists, farmers, chemists and toymakers.  The inventor of magnetic poetry will be there and will be playing his ukulele.  Every single one of the exhibits is geared for students.  It is family-friendly, fun and free.

Da Vinci Fest is supported by The Partnership Plan, education foundation for Stillwater Area Public Schools.  For more information - www.partnershipplan.org.
