Please encourage your child to read 20 minutes or more a day. Enter the title of each book, sign the line that says parent signature, and return the log to the classroom teacher each Friday. Science Students continue experimenting with paper towels, napkins and tissues Social Studies Students will be learning map skills and identifying where they live, on the map, and in the world. Math Students will use the commutative and distributive properties, and the order of operations, to multiply and divide. Language Arts- better royal worst most less spoil moist voice oyster coin best joy more point least cowboy employer Vocabulary Words factory- a building or group of buildings where things are manufactured; plant hired- to give a job to; to employ managed-to direct or control secretary- a person whose job is to write letters and keep records for another person or a business millionaire- a person who has money or property worth a million or more dollars charged-to ask a price sued- to start a case against in a court of law wealth- riches The story we will be reading this week is titled Madame C.J. Walker: Self-Made Millionaire .This is a biography about an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and social activist Phonics: students will review words spelled oi and _oy. High frequency word: words Comprehension strategies: clarifying, visualizing and summarizing The Reading Hall of Fame It’s the UNDER THE SEA themed Reading Hall of Fame program! Beginning January 30th – May1st, this is a fantastic home based reading incentive program that coincides with your child’s daily reading requirements. We will gladly help students locate many of the required books and check on their progress, but the reading must be done at home. It is essential that students diligently log their minutes on the weekly reading logs and the titles of the books they have completed on the Reading Hall of Fame log. Many exciting activities are planned for students participating in the program. We don’t want anyone left out!
