FROM THE OFFICE
1. WEEDS: Still in need of a lot of work. A lot of
infractions were given out at the end of December
and more may be coming. If everyone would
please make weeding your lot a part of your regu-
lar week’s activities…..not only will it stop the
need for infractions, but it will make the job
much easier to manage. We thank you in ad-
vance.
2. We are still having issues with folks not cleaning
up after their dogs. This is not an option, it is a
requirement of all residents of the park as well as
the RV park. We are going to im-
plement a fine that will be passed
on to anyone caught not picking up
after their animals. Also, when
walking dogs in the park, they must
be on a leash at all times and cats
are to be kept indoors and not to run free around
the park.
3. 10 MPH!! Some folks are
still driving way too fast
within the park. The speed
limit is 10 MPH throughout
the entire property. We are
going to be adding speed
bumps on B and D streets
soon. Nobody enjoys driv-
ing over speed bumps, so
please heed the speed limit
so that we don’t have to add
even more through the park.
ROYAL PALM BLOCK WATCH
One Block Watch Volunteer Needed
We need one or two Block Watch volunteers for pa-
trol duties. Contact Dale Stroh (701) 739-0012, or
George Immerso (480) 628-4949 for more info
about patrol duties or to volunteer. Schedules can be
flexible; you can serve once a week, once a month, or
other frequency. Transportation is available.
Don’t Call Block Watch!
Do not open your door to a stranger! If someone
comes to your door and makes a move to open your
door, CALL THE POLICE and rEport a “POSSIBLE
HOME INVASION”. Secure your door, and protect
yourself and your property.
If you see someone or something that looks out of
place, do not approach them, do not call a Block
Watch member, do not call the Office—CALL THE
POLICE! Block Watch is out there to be our eyes
and ears only, not to become involved with a poten-
tial miscreant.
CALL THE POLICE!!
Call 9-1-1 first if an emergency.
Call Crime Stoppers (602) 262-6151 for non-
emergency crime reporting
If the police are not involved then there is no offi-
cial record of the event.
Reporting Suspicious People
The Office has provided forms for Block Watch vol-
unteers to document suspicious persons or activities
happening in the Park. These are intended to provide
a record for discussions with the Police or the City.
See the column at the right for what we need to do as
residents. If you should make an Incident Report to
the Office be sure to give Dale Stroh a copy.
Please Call Police
If you notify Police about suspicious people or activi-
ties we will have more patrolling in Royal Palm,
making it safer for all.

Nominations for officers have started, in preparation
for elections in January.

dent, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Ringer (219) 863-1199; contact her if you wish to
run or to nominate someone. Nominations will be
open at the election meeting in January. Those elect-
ed will take office in February.
Nominations made to date include:
Elaine Violette, President
Wanda Perry, Vice President
Dave Violette, Secretary
Mary Jane Caraher, Treasurer
Gail Brazell, Member at Large
Frances Hedrick, Member at Large
Mary McDougale, Member at Large *
Phyllis Pawlak, Member at Large *
Diana Lasky, Member at LarGe
* Those marked are currently serving in that position.
Potluck Suppers
Potluck Suppers resume in January, with one on Jan-
uary 12th. See the details on page 17.
Breakfast In The Park
Mary Jane Caraher reported there were 75 at the De-
cember breakfast. We will have one on Saturday,
January 5th.
Starting in January, the price of the breakfast will go
up by $1 to $6, due to increases over time of the gro-
ceries needed to provide the meal. However, the
$2.50 charge for seconds will go away as long as the
seconds are consumed on the premises . It is not fair
to get seconds only to take home.
Thanks to Royal Palm
We give a special vote of thanks to the Royal Palm
Managers, who provided the gifts given out as door
prizes at the Christmas dinners. What a special thing
to do for our residents!
Birthday Bash
The January Birthday Bash will be held on Wednes-
day, January 16th, at Rustler’s Rooste in Phoenix.
Anyone is welcome to come, whether they have a
January birthday or not. Contact Gail Brazell (602)
327-8125 to RSVP by Monday, January 14th. Details
on page 9.
Christmas Dinners
The Christmas dinners were very enjoyable and well
supported. There were 84 dinners served on Tuesday
and 100 dinners on Wednesday. On both nights, din-
ners were delivered to shut-ins and people not able to
attend the events due to illness or other.
We give a great vote of thanks to Gail Brazell, who
spearheaded the whole event and organized, cajoled,
and hussled us all to make things go smoothly!
Thanks also go to Dale and Betty Stroh, Chery Ring-
er, Mary Jane Caraher, Mary McDougale, Darlene
Payne, and Trish and two of her kids who worked in
the kitchen and served us at the dinners. Marlene
Town gets a great thanks for the wonderful decora-
tions in the Clubhouse including the attractive Christ-
mas tree, table decorations, and serving table decora-
tions. Marlene made the setting very festive. Thanks
also to Dave Violette for designing and printing the
tickets and to the Board members who sold tickets. It
takes a lot of people to make this a success.
50/50 Winner, Ham Winner
Joyce Valenzuela was the winner of $29.00 in the
50/50 raffle.
Jan Schirripa won the donated ham.
Both drawings were done from the 50/50 tickets.

Jackie Levi —D46 A home well deserved to win Outstanding Home of
the Month! The homeowner receives a $25 credit on rent for that
month. Be sure to mention it when paying rent.
CHRISTMAS HAYRIDE AND PARADE
Golf carts and hayride lined up to start The carolers on the hayride
Tom and Wanda’s truck and trailer Gathered for hot chocolate and cookies after
Tom and Wanda Perry arranged for the hayride.
They used their truck and trailer and borrowed/
rented some straw bales. Music was provided by a
boombox mounted on the back of their truck. Some-
one had printed out the lyrics to several carols and
Christmas music that would be played, to help the
singers.
It was fortunate in that temperatures were good. They were in the 60s for most of the parade.
Tom drove the parade through streets in the Park
and in the RV section. He did not cover all the streets because the truck-trailer combination need-ed maneuvering room.
It was fun to have people come out from their
homes to greet the parae along the way. There were
a lot of "Merry Christmas" greetings passed back
and forth between paraders and spectators.
After the parade all joined in enjoying hot chocolate
and cookies at the Clubhouse. This extended the
good cheer and friendship.

ROYAL PALM CHRISTMAS DINNER
Our Annual Christmas Dinner was enjoyed by many on
Tuesday, December 11th (first session), and Wednesday,
December 12th (second session). There were 84 at the
Tuesday meal and 100 at the Wednesday meal.
Marlene Town did a wonderful job of decorating for the
event, as usual. The Christmas tree set on the stage was
elegant and colorful, and the table centerpieces (see
photo at right) made the tables warm and comfortable.
The menu offered a choice of turkey or ham and we also
had mashed potatoes and gravy, turkey dressing, green
beans, and rolls. Apple, pecan, and pumpkin pies topped
off the meal for dessert.
