VENTURE INTO THE UNKNOWN WITH FAITH IN GOD

One of the greatest obstacles we face in following Christ is fear of the unknown. We yearn to know in advance the outcome of our obedience and where He is taking us, yet we are only given the assurance that He is with us and that He is in charge. And with that, we venture into the unknown with Him.

Abraham modeled the response of a person who is willing to walk with God into an unknown future. “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” Hebrews 11:8

Abraham knew that God had called him and had given him a promise - and that was enough. He was willing to entrust his future to the Lord.

We may do the same by trusting our Lord for the future and stepping out in faith. As we stand in the threshold of a new year, may this prayer of faith and anticipation be ours:

O Lord God, who has called us, Your servants To ventures of which we cannot see the ending,

By paths as yet untrodden, And through perils unknown,

Give us faith to go out with good courage, Not knowing where we go

But only that Your hand is leading us And Your love is supporting us. Amen

THE MONTH IN REVIEW - DECEMBER 2017

The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering was collected during the month of December. A total of $4,008.00 was given by the Church body. We exceeded our Church goal by over $1,000.00!

All offerings will be sent to the International Missions Board (IMB) and used accordingly. Mahalo for your offering!

KBC TEAMS & COMMITTEES (cont.)

Since we currently do not have a Pastor, if would like to put on an event or assemble a gathering, please present your idea through the appropriate team or committee so that it may be voted on and added to the

activity calendar for that team or committee if approved.

Most activities will fall within the “jurisdiction” of one of the teams or committees. If you are unsure of which team/committee your event or gathering falls under, you can discuss it

with the team leaders. Once the appropriate team is determined, the activity or gathering should be presented to the team and voted on during their team meeting.

Please refer to the Admin Committee members if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you!

“And let us consider how we may spur on another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the

Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25

Mahalo nui loa to our friends and supporters at Kona Baptist Church! Our cookie bar for the tenants at Hualalai Elderly Housing was very popular. Seniors got to select cookies to be put into a to-go container to be enjoyed at home. We also had enough cookies left over to put into baggies and small boxes to be included into the Christmas bags we pass out to each unit on Christmas Eve. Your continued support and volunteer base makes this program possible. So we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and your kupuna.

Warm Regards, Auntie Jan Executive Director Hualalai Elderly

CHRISTMAS MUSICAL - December 17th The Christmas Musical was a wonderful celebration that featured several Kona Baptist Church families and gave praise to the Lord. It was a very special event! Mahalo nui loa to Butch who directed the event, the

choir and all who performed on stage, and to the behind the scenes crew.

Christmas Eve Candle Light Service The celebration of our Savior’s birth is a special occasion that was beautifully celebrated on Christmas Eve.

We gave praise by song, dance, and narration. The candle lights and manger display added a special touch. Mahalos to everyone for making this an evening to remember.

Please continue to pray for the Deacons, the Pastor Search Committee, and the Admin Committee as they continue to diligently serve the Church and follow God’s will.

Baby Zion Dedication! On Sunday, December 24th, sweet baby Zion was dedicated to the Lord. Parents EJ and Jessa have committed to raising Zion in the Christian faith

and are seeking to instill that faith in him. Pastors Brian Smart and Roberto Villatoro led the dedication while proud

parents and grandparents looked on. It was a special event that will resonate in their lives forever!

GOD SAID “NO”

I asked God to take away my habit. God said, “No, it’s not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.” I asked God to make by handicapped child whole. God said, “No, his spirit is whole, his body is only

temporary.” I asked God to grant me patience. God said, “No, patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is learned.” I asked God to give me happiness. God said, “No, I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you.” I asked God to spare me pain. God said, “No, suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.” I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, “No, you must grow on your own, but I will

prune you to make you fruitful.” I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, “No, I will give you life, so that you may enjoy all things.” I asked God to help me love others, as much as He loves me.

God said….”Ahhh, finally you have the idea!”

This day is yours, don’t throw it away. May God Bless You today and every day!

VERSE OF THE MONTH - JANUARY 2018
