Happy New Year everyone! It is strange to think or say 2016. It seems like only yesterday the world was coming to an end with Y2K in 2000. I have found time goes by much faster the older you get. Why is that?............... So, if time is slipping away I must sew and accomplish more. I need more fabric, yikes!!! I did manage to stop at a quant little quilt shop in New Braunfels TX while we were there for my nephews wedding. I picked up a new pattern by Southwind Designs showing a new technique for curves called dimensional quilting. And when you have a new pattern you are required to buy fabric for it, RIGHT! Well that’s what I told my husband. He didn’t buy it either. It may be one of my projects I bring on the retreat in Feb. which I’m really looking forward to.

On a more serious note, in the newsletter I included a list of our committee heads and phone numbers. Thank you to all who

volunteered. I hope if asked, by any of these fine people to help, you will gladly say yes. Quilt Show: The Quilt Show By-laws need to be changed to allow for more than two signators to be on the checking account. Trish Rogers requested that the day guild's share of the overage from the Quilt Show, $730.13, be kept by the quilt show. A Motion was made and seconded that the overage of $730.13 (day guild's half) would remain with the quilt show to purchase tables and quilt show frames. The Quilt show is looking at becoming its own entity, then there would be a treasurer from both guilds in place.

In December we took 16 small quilts to the Liberty Police Depart-ment for them to give out when needed. They were very appreciative and sent a thank you note which reads: “Thank you and the Northland Quilters Guild of Kansas City Mis-souri for the donation of quilts for children in need. These will be put to good use with our patrol officers and detectives. We very much appreciate the hard work and effort that went into these quilts. Sincerely, James Simpson Chief of Police”. David, our new member from St. Joe, took home two small quilts to quilt for us. He said he could take a few each month. We will need the backing and batting. He uses only 100% cotton batting. I have several pieces of fabric that can be used as backing. If you have made a top or a complete quilt please bring it to guild and we will collect them until we have enough to distribute. We have received information about an organization in Liberty called Baby Grace Ministry through the North Star Methodist Church which distrib-utes items quarterly to mothers who qualify. This will be one of the places that we will give some quilts in the future. Thanks in advance for your generosity to our Quilted Blessings program. You are always so giving.

-Teddie Broughton & Patsy Peterson-
