A BIG FAREWELL

It’s now time for us to

say FAREWELL to anoth-

er one of our key staff

members... Desiree Kl-

emm! Desiree has been

the Station’s Field Office

Coordinator for the past

2 1/2 years. Without

question, she has been

the backbone of the Sta-

tion’s successes and the

“go to” person for just

about any program is-

sue. The Station Leadership Team will certainly attest

to her worth and the entire volunteer cadre will like-

wise acknowlege the unquestionable assistance that

Desiree has provided each and every day. To say that

“we will miss her” would be a gross understatement.

We wish her, and her husband Christian, every success

in the future and safe travels. Personally, I assure you

that we are a better Station because of her.

The American Red Cross at RAF Lakenheath and RAF

Mildenhall would like to wish a healthy and prosper-

ous New Year to our beloved Red Cross volunteers.

As we sit back and reflect on some of your outstand-

ing accomplishments in the past year, we can’t help

but get excited for what’s to come. We look forward

to sharing new faces, ideas and partnerships in 2015.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your

hard work and dedication.

Cheers to a New Year and the opportunities to build

upon your continued success!

CARDS FOR HEROES

Once again our station, with help

from the RAF Lakenheath ROTC and

Red Cross Club, were involved in sort-

ing and delivering Christmas cards

that were sent to us by the general

public. Like last year, the card sorting

was a productive and fun time to get

together with fellow volunteers do-

ing what we love best: To give time!

WINTER ROAD TIPS

Think carefully about whether you

should travel now or wait until con-

ditions improve.

Before setting off:

v Check weather, news and travel

reports – the closer to the time you

leave, the better.

v Take your kit of essential emer-

gency items.

v Tell someone where you’re going.

v Think about other ways to get to

and from your destination.

v Charge your mobile phone.

WELCOME

I would like you all to help me welcome

both Traci Green, the new Mildenhall

Station Advisor and Sofya Galich, our

new Chair of Volunteers to our team.

WE NEED YOU

Join the American Red Cross

Fundraising committee today!!

The committee will be work-

ing together to execute fundrais-

ing ideas throughout the year.

No experience in fundraising is nec-

essary. All you need is a good at-

titude, fun spirit, and an eagerness

to help out the Air Force community.

Most communication for the commit-

tee will be through email although

a once a month or more frequent

face-to-face meeting may likely oc-

cure if a fundraiser is in the making!

Please contact April Kersey if inter-

ested: [email protected]

CHARLES HERTENSTEIN

Hello, I am an active duty enlisted

member assigned to the 48th Con-

tracting Squadron. I have been in-

volved in the Red Cross off and on

the last few years. Recently, I helped

coordinate youth volunteering over

the summer. Now as the Recogni-

tion Chair, I am tasked with oversee-

ing the station’s awards recognition

programs. I joined the Air Force in

2009 and my first base was in Oki-

nawa, Japan. I will have served in

the United Kingdom for four years,

up until I am reassigned this Sum-

mer. I have volunteered quite a bit

over the last few years and I deeply

believe volunteering makes you a

better person and the world a better

place. The American Red Cross is

such a great organization serving the

local community and I’m proud to

be part of it. Interests and hobbies:

reading, traveling, and collecting.
