The theme for today was
economical development. We
went around Dickinson learning
about new developments that
could enhance the city of
Dickinson. First we went out to
Medora cooperation and met
with Mr. Tormaschy. The
Medora Cooperation produces
solar bee's which help with
water quality challenges by
using solar energy. We then
headed back to the Chamber of
Commerce to talk with Josh
Nichols about the downtown
revitalization. We learned that they have many ideas. After he
delivered his PowerPoint, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Player's. We had a great time with everyone and
enjoyed great food. After lunch, we went to the Stromcenter
and learned about how to start a small business in the city of
Dickinson. Finally, we finished our day by touring
Starboard and meeting with Lenny, the owner. He explained to
us how he got where he is now and then finished everything up by
showing us the new expansion to his store. All in all
today was a great day.

ConocoPhillips today announced the company will donate a total of $1 million over four years to the St. Joseph’s Hospital New Campus Project to support health care services for current and future residents in the community and surrounding area. Greg Ashdown, operations manager for the company’s Bakken area, today presented the first of four $250,000 annual donations to Jodi Bosch, director of Foundation and Communications for St. Joseph’s.
“Dickinson is the virtual epicenter of energy development activity in the Bakken,” said Ashdown. “This new facility will be a great addition to serve the people living in the area and working to grow the state’s energy economy.”
ConocoPhillips Lower 48 business unit has field offices in Dickinson, ND, Watford City, ND, Sidney, MT and Billings, MT with approximately 150 employees. The company is currently running 11 drilling rigs in the Bakken.
St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center was established in Dickinson in 1912 and is currently building a new $100 Million campus in west Dickinson. The new hospital and medical office building are set to open in the late fall of 2014.
“The Bakken is an important development and growth area for ConocoPhillips,” Ashdown added. “Our support for this new medical facility is just one way to demonstrate to residents of Dickinson and all of North Dakota our commitment to the area.”
