Inside this issue: Sponsor Night & Hero to Hero—Jan 30 At the Waterloo Wolves’ game on Monday, January 30th, the team salutes
two important ―groups‖: the Wolves’ sponsors and the Hero to Hero organi-
zation.
Without the generousity and enthusiasm of our sponsors, the Waterloo
Wolves program would not be the outstanding success story that it is. We
truly consider our many sponsors to be members of the team and we salute
them!
At 7:00pm, there will be a special pre-game ceremony where the Wolves will
be presenting their donations to representatives from Hero to Hero. Hero to
Hero is a non-political organization that matches emergency services person-
nel and sports teams with Canadian troops serving overseas. The personnel
or teams from Canada send autographed shirts and other goodies to the
troops, showing their support for the members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
At 7:30pm the puck will drop for another exciting Wolves game when Hamilton comes to town. Go
Wolves GO!
On December 27, 2011, the Waterloo Wolves departed on a Friendship Tour of The Czech Re-
public, Austria and Germany. The tour combines hockey with visits to various cultural and histor-
ical sites.
December 28 to 31 were spent in Prague, the capital of The Czech Republic. The team toured the
sites, including some spectacular castles, and played two games. The first , against the HC Mete-
ors, saw the Wolves win 8-3. The second game of the tour saw the Wolves take the win again, 7-4,
over HC Kobra Praha. On New Year’s Eve, the team enjoyed an incredible fireworks display at
Prague Castle. A terrific end to 2011.
January 1, 2012 was a travel day with the team arriving late in the day in Vienna, Austria. On Janu-
ary 2 the team enjoyed touring and shopping in Vienna. On the 3rd, they crossed the border into
Slovakia for their third game of the tour, which they won 5-0.
On January 4 the team made their way to Salzburg, via the beautiful lakeside town of Hallstatt.
The 5th was a busy day in the salt mines of Hallein followed by a guided tour of historic Salzburg.
On January 6 the team arrived in Germany where they won their fourth game of the tour, 11-2.

Following the game, the team toured Castle Neuschwanstein.
Saturday, January 7 was the final day of the tour. The team had a
guided tour of Munich followed by their fifth game, which the
Wolves won 9-1 thus being able to leave Europe undefeated. Both
games in Germany were played on open-air rinks.
The trip was an amazing experience for all who went, with a per-
fect mixture of sport and touring of historic sites. There was so
much to see and do in the 12 days that it is difficult to pick a
favourite.
We hope you enjoy this selection of photos from the trip, kindly
provided by Judy Moser.
The Waterloo Wolves would like to thank everyone who helped
make the 2011-12 European Friendship Tour a reality.
