    Ohio County Local Coordinating Committee

    Citizens for a Drug Free Community

    January 9, 2012

    Attendees: Deborah Thomason, Karen Ernst, , Jascia Robinson, Amy Beckett, Regina Crouch, Gary Eldridge,Janie Eldridge, Shannon Franklin, Amber Johnson, Tina Keller, Debrah Marsh- Niccum, and Elissa Pogue.

    Deborah Thomason called the meeting to order.Minutes

    December Minutes were discussed a motion to approved made by Shannon Franklin and second byAmber Johnson. Minutes were passed.

    Treasurers ReportGary Eldridge reported that when he picked up our 2012 Budget it was different than we had requested

    and voted on in June. Each category showed $3,000 instead of the $4,000 that we had voted on. Therefore wecan not award the grant money until we get this taken care of. All grant letters will be held till this is taken care of.Our current balance for 2012 is $20,120.59.

    A motion to request the county council to approve an additional of $4,000, $1,000 for each category:Justice, Prevention/Education, Treatment and optional per our budget request was made by Amber Johnson andsecond by Shannon Franklin. Debbie Thomason will put in a request for the additional and to be placed on the

    County Councils agenda. Debbie will notify those were not present that grant checks will be delayed a bit.Youth ReportNo one was present

    Regional ReportShannon Buskirk contacted Debbie Thomason as she will be the contact person in Indianapolis.

    Old Business

    Total awarded from treatment was $3000.00 and $1000 left over and will stay in the treatmentcategory. A review of bylaws was read, in order to make changes regarding monies that are leftfrom the three categories. A motion to amend Article 6 section 3 on granting procedures to reopenunspent money to other agencies and current grantees that meet all criteria as of March 1, 2012was made by Shannon Franklin and second by Amber Johnson. We will vote to amend bylaws at

    the February meeting. Gary Eldridge announced that Ohio County will be getting a website like the Voice of Ripley

    County, so we will be joining our website and information to the Voice of Ohio County when thatcomes about. A training seminar is also in the works for social media; linking our facebook,twitter and websites. Debbie Thomason mentioned that the Ohio County Community Foundationwill be awarding training grants if members would like to apply. Allison Pope from the ASAPcenter introduced herself and stated that a workshop similar to the social media workshop can bebrought in by the ASAP center and presented in Ohio County.

    New Business.

    Rising Sun First Baptist Church will be holding a Drug Free Caimpagn which started Jan. 8, 2012at 6pm. Speaker Donita Valentine onThe Ugly Truthstarted out the series which was well

    attended. Next speaker is Feb.12, 2012 at 6pm Don Allen, PHD, LICDC on Enabling and eachmonth to follow will be different speakers.

    Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati is holding a community workshop at the ASAP center,Communicating your Impact, on March 6, 2012 from 9:30 am 12:30 pm this is a freeworkshop. Brochures were passed to all with a registration form.

    Announcements

    Ohio County Health Fair is Feb. 15, 2012 at the Rising Sun Star Casino from 9am-3pm.If interested in a booth contacts Janice Vinson [email protected] or 812-438-2555 ext 105.

    Set up is a 8 am if you would like to help.

    Janie Eldridge anounced Denver Siekman will be hosting a dinner Murder at Midnight onFeb. 11, 2012 at the Heritage Hall if interested contact Janie for more information.

    Amber Johnson from SIEOC announced a program to inform families about bedtime basics forbabies. Referrals forms were passed out to all agencies.

    Karen Ernst announced that the 911 Gives Hope, Guns and Hoses Charity Boxing Match will beheld at Belterra Casino on May 5, 2012. Money made from the event goes to The Region 15 Child

    Advacacy Center . Debbie Thomason announced that Monte Stiles, a retired Federal Prosecutor will be coming to

    Ohio County to speak on Drug Abuse Awareness, a date has yet to be finalized. More informationto follow.
