The Little Flower Hospital Trust at Angamaly was started in 1936, with an intent to provide medical services to the deprived and needy. Today,

thin-set adhesive was used to fix the Ultra tile on the facade.

® ®LATICRETE 600 Cementitious Grout mixed with LATICRETE 1776 Grout

Admix Plus was used to provide strong, durable & weather-resistant tile jointsbetween the tiles on the external façade.

®LATICRETE 190 Sealer was applied on the tile before and after the grouting

to reduce the staining and water absorption without altering the color

of the tile.

Laticrete: Engineering a landmark - The Vellore Institute of Technology.

Vellore Institute of technology - Vellore, one of the well known engineering

colleges in the country was looking for an equally well known and trusted

company for on their newly constructed

faculty quarters.

It has chosen the best, i.e, products from to install 1.5 lakh sq.ft.

The Architects for the project were Kingsway consultants (Structural) and

Mayline Interiors (Interiors) from Chennai. The contractors for the project

were L & T.

Scope of Application:

1. The whole building was designed to be enveloped with glass mosaic

tiles covering an area of approximately 1.5 lakh sq.ft.

Installation system proposed by

Laticrete:

Laticrete recommended 252 Ag silver

Glass Mosaic Adhesives for this demanding installation due to its

proven performance history in such conditions.

The joints between tiles the were filled with Laticrete

grout, suitable for the application.

but also did it in stipulated time.

2. The biggest challenge for Laticrete was installation of glass

mosaic tiles on the exterior façade of 75 ft. height exposed to

extreme weather conditions such as high heat, rainfall, wind

load, and so on.

The Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Global Development Centre

( Deccan Park ) is spread over a colossal 350,000 sq.ft and is one of the

largest establishments by an IT company in Hyderabad.

Initially the very thought of installing a natural stone with adhesives was a

challenge and a difficult proposition to convince the TCS team and the

architects involved, as the fear of debonding of stone was on top of their minds.

The next challenge was to accomplish the proposed task, for which Laticrete

deputed its technical supervisors to train the local team of workers and

ensured that the installation was carried out as per Laticrete’s global standards.

Some of the demanding features of the project:

+ Installing red agra stone of size 280 mm x 140 mm, 30mm thick over an area of 1,40,000 sq. ft., of an external wall.

+ Providing a grout colour to match the colour of red agra stone.

+ Reducing the porosity of red agra stone.

+ Providing a flexible sealant matching the colour of red agra stone to accommodate the expansion & contraction.

Installation system proposed by Laticrete:

+ Laticrete Latex Fortified Adhesive i.e., Laticrete 111 Crete filler powder mixed with Laticrete 73 admix was used as an adhesive to

install the stone. Laticrete Latex fortified adhesive has the ability to withstand varying weather conditions, thermal stress, shock &

impact and provide a very strong bond.

+ Laticrete Latex Fortified Grout i.e., Laticrete 500 series sanded grout mixed with Laticrete 282 grout admix was used to fill the joints

between the stones and make them strong, dense, colour-fast and less water absorbent.

+Laticrete Penetrating Sealer i.e., Laticrete 190 sealer was applied on the Red Agra stone to reduce its porosity and thereby provide water

repellancy.

+ Laticrete Natural Stone Non-Staining Silicone Sealant was used to fill the expansion & contraction joints.

Laticrete by virtue of its proven history, technical expertise and proven product performance, has made complex installation easy.This prestigious project

renowned company had various solutions offered by leading companies in the

market for the highly complex installation of red agra natural stone on the

external facade, but decided to go with Laticrete, the world leader in tile & stone

installation solutions.

to rest and convince architects and the client to go for the Laticrete system

proposed.
