WE GATHER TO WORSHIP

WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS John Brooke

Welcome! Whoever you are, wherever you come from and whatever you have

done or failed to do, welcome to this place where we celebrate the love of God

and are inspired by the hospitality of Jesus Christ. May you find God’s love,

peace and grace as we worship together.

(Please use this time to sign and pass the blue attendance pads.)

As we listen to the beauty of the music in this sacred place of

Sanctuary, let us silently prepare ourselves for worship.

PRELUDE “Praeludium” by J. S. Bach

Alejandro Alumbreros

One: The Lord be with you.

All: And also with you.

*CALL TO WORSHIP

One: Let us meet God in this gathering.

All: We gather together to praise God, to offer our hopes, to hear again

God’s call, to strengthen our faith.

One: God calls us to honor all persons, be kind to our neighbors, and to praise

God’s holy name.

All: Let us worship God.

*OPENING HYMN “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee“ [464, vv 1&2]

PRAYER OF THE DAY

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

All: Faithful God, we confess that we have not always been faithful to you.

Your requirements of us have been to do justice, love kindness, and

walk humbly with you. Yet, we conform to the often lower standards

of our world and forget the demands of your call to us.

Steadfast God, give us the strength to be the people you have created

and called us to be: a holy people abounding in steadfast love and

justice. ~ Amen

(Let us continue to pray in silence.)

7

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

One: Hear the good news!

Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation.

The old life has gone; a new life has begun.

Know that you are forgiven and be at peace.

Know that the Spirit of the risen Christ inspirits you and rejoice.

All: Alleluia! Amen!

*SONG OF PRAISE [404, v1]

Precious Lord, take my hand,

Lead me on, help me stand;

I am tired, I am week, I am worn;

Through the storm, through night,

Lead me on to the light;

Take my hand, Precious Lord,

Lead me home.

Announcement:

Help Requested! The DAYTIME CIRCLE will meet on Tues., Jan. 29th

to get the February newsletter ready for mailing and also to pack

up dishes from the Ihrman Hall kitchenette. We’ll start at 10:00AM

with the work on the dishes and do the newsletters afterwards

(probably around 12:30PM

). We would appreciate some help with

this, especially with the lifting and packing of the dishes. If you

can assist with either of these tasks, just come down to the

church on that Tuesday. Treats and coffee will be available.

As stated in earlier announcements, the dishes will be left out in Ihrman Hall, in

case anyone is interested in taking some of them. After two weeks they will be

transported somewhere.

Thank you!

from Leah and Ginny
