Publication Deadlines: All deadlines are by noon. Please make all requests by completing Publicity Request form on the LCUMC web page under Resources, Forms & Documents. Then email form to officemgr@longschapel.com. For the weekly Chapel Connection: requests for bulletin announcements and/or verbal announcements are due in the church of-fice on Tuesdays no later than noon (for the upcoming Sunday’s publication). For the monthly Chapel Chatter: requests for newsletter ar ticles/info are due on the 8th of every month no later than noon (for the following month’s publication).

What to do when it snows on Sunday… When winter weather is a factor, we will post any changes in the worship schedule on the church answering system at 456-3993, ext. 40. Those with internet access are asked NOT TO CALL the church office but to visit our website (LongsChapel.com). You may also tune into WLOS TV and watch for church closings or check Facebook at Facebook.com/longschapel. Changes will be posted no later than 7:40 am.

Pastor’s Coffee Rescheduled – January 15, 2017 If you are considering joining Long’s Chapel United Methodist Church or interested in learning more about our transforming fellowship or our Methodist tradition, you are invited to join our pastors on Sunday, January 15, from 4 to 5:30 pm in room #505 (modular unit). The purpose of the Pastor’s Coffee is to provide guests, newcomers, and those interested in joining the church the opportunity to meet the pas-tor, ask any questions they might have, discover ways in which to engage in the life of the church, and learn what church membership means. At the Coffee you also will have the opportunity to sign up for a 6-week class called “A Disciple’s Path” that will guide you in your next step along the path as a follower of Jesus. It is a wonderful opportunity for you to connect with other disciples and find support and encouragement as you continue to grow in your faith.

Acts 2:42 Meal - Join us for our weekly fellowship dinner on Wednesday, January 15. It is Chick -fil-A night! Dinner is served from 5:15 to 6:15 pm in the Fellowship Hall. No reservation required. Suggested meal donations: $7 adults; $5 ages 12-18; $4 ages 5-11 (4 & under eat free), or $18 family maximum. Children’s menu available each week.

The Monday morning women’s Bible study is taking a winter break dur ing the fir st half of January. We’ll resume our weekly study of the Book of Psalms on Monday, January 23 at 10 am in room #210. For questions, contact Denise Loock, deniseloock@gmail.com or 908.868.5854.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday will be celebrated in Haywood County January 14-16 January 14 – Pride March, Canton – Leave the Harris Chapel AME Zion Church and end at the Town Annex January 15 – The Commemorative Worship Service – This year the service will be hosted by Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, featuring the MLK Community Choir January 16 – The Prayer Breakfast – Hosted by Lake Junaluska at the Lambuth Inn, 8:00 am. Rev. Stephanie Hand will be the guest speaker for this event. Tickets can be purchased throughout the community.

Red Cross Blood Drive in the Fellowship Hall on Monday, January 16 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm & 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Please sign up to donate or volunteer to assist in the drive in the Gathering Area between services, call Gary Strong, 828-476-7807 or online at www.redcrossblood.org.

Join us for a work team to the Mission Response Center in Mooresville on Thursday, Jan. 19. We will leave the church parking lot at 7 am and return around 6:30 pm. We will work sorting and packing donated materials for shipment to areas of need. Everyone is invited to join for a day of work, fellowship, and fun.
