January 12th 2016 marked the 6shyyear anniversary of the 70 magnitudeearthquake which killed nearly 250000 people and completely devastated thecountrys infrastructure Haiti was battered but not broken Over the pastseveral years JP HRO and hundreds of other governmental and nonshygovernmental organizations have helped Haitians recover rebuild andrevitalize their country More than anything else what has emerged is a modelof Haitians being empowered to help themselves As our staff has become over95 Haitian the anniversary of the earthquake is a moment to reflect on the

loss of family and friends but also the progress that has taken place and whatwe have to look forward to We are grateful for the strength of our organizationand its employeesmdash our hard work born from rubble What we have discoveredin Haiti is that from that rubble anything is possible
On Saturday the 9th of January Hollywood once again came together to supportFounder and Chairman of the Board Sean Penn and JP Haitian ReliefOrganization at the 5th Annual Help Haiti Home Gala at the Montage in LosAngeles $7 million was raised Hollywood and its Ashylist moguls and stars stoodwith coshyHosts Bryan Lourd and Sean amp Alexandra Parker to shine a light andraise muchshyneeded funds Anderson Cooper was the nights Master ofCeremonies French Minister of Ecology Sustainable Development and EnergySegolene Royal and Bill Evans of the Petionville Club in Haiti were the nightsDistinguished Honorees
Those in attendance included Madonna (who also performed ldquoLa Vie En Roserdquo)Leonardo DiCaprio Justin Bieber Lana Del Rey Brad Paisley JasonSegel Pamela Anderson Patricia Arquette Garcelle Beauvais Rebecca amp EricDane Brian Grazer Scott Hamilton Emile Hirsch Michael Mann KyleMacLachlan the Fugeesrsquo Pras Michel Soleil Moon Frye Kevin Nealon MarkRuffalo Garry Shandling David Spade Patrick Stewart Lars Ulrich SukiWaterhouse Rachel Zoe and Jimmy JeanshyLouis all came out to support A liveauction facilitated by Sothebys Andrea Fiuczynski included a trip to Haiti withSean Penn and President Bill Clinton a Rachel Zoe curated fashion package andMadonnas touring ukulele JP HROs new US Ambassadors Jolene RapinoTracie Hamilton and Soleil Moon Frye all spoke passionately about theirexperiences in Haiti The night concluded with a rousing performance by Tom Pettyand the Heartbreakers Special thanks to presenting sponsors Lynne and MarcBenioff and our other generous sponsors The Parker Foundation SalesforceVariety and CAA
JP HRO is proud to announce that Sean Penn has selected developmentexpert Ann Young Lee to replace him as the Chief Executive Officer of JPHRO Ann Young Lee brings almost 15 years of experience in humanitarianresponse and development to the team She spent 2006shy2012 in Haitimanaging programs as Country Director of Global Communities Recently sheserved as the lead on urban humanitarian response and the private sectorsection liaison at the United Nations for the World Humanitarian Summit(WHS) In her first address to our supporters Ann stressed her focus goingforward saying We are determined that we will never become complacent forus relief will never be business as usual JP HRO will continue to pushgroundshybreaking programming that empower the people of Haiti as they buildthe future that they want for themselves Please help us in welcoming Ann
