SPECIAL THANKS TO

ALL OF YOU From Donna Swanson: Former Director/Founder Simple Gifts Foundation

“It is so awesome what the SSPP parishioners do for these kids and families! I know these families are so apprecia-tive and that doesn’t change year after year. “

“To Do for Another is the Greatest Gift of All”

Once again, the response to our parish giving tree this Christmas season was truly overwhelming and heart-warming. You, the parishioners of Saints Peter and Paul made this a much brighter Christmas season for over 130 families with children with special needs. Additionally, you brightened the Christmas of SSPP Transitional Housing Ministry families; over forty men, women and their children spending Christmas at Family Shelter Services, and many SSPP St Vincent DePaul families in need with various gift cards. You also assisted teens whose families are being serviced by Catholic Charities. (Note: I was asked by several parishioners “Why Starbucks or Chipotle Cards?” These cards are allowing teens and young adults whose families are experiencing difficult times to be able to participate with and be with other friends in their peer groups.) Thanks for your generosity and understanding. –Deacon Joe On behalf of all of these families touched by your generosity— THANK YOU!

In this study, Bishop Robert Barron illuminates six biblical stories of conversion, demonstrating how six ordinary people, just like you, were met by Jesus where they were and called to a better life through Him. The common theme in each story is the turning of all one's attention and energy toward an ever deeper, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In his characteristically energetic style, Bishop Barron explains how conversion is not so much a one-time event, but a life-long process. He explains, "Jesus Christ calls us in thousands of different ways to follow Him, as we strive on the path for spiritual excellence."

FISHERS OF MEN

Do you ever act as a Pharisee; or Do you try to be the Physician? Jesus called Levi and joined him for a feast at his house. He had many followers there, tax collectors and sinners, also some Pharisees who were being quite critical. Jesus reminded them only the sick need a Physician.

Saturday, January 18th Come and discuss how we can joyfully honor the Lord in our reaction to the people we encounter.

friends and to become closer to our Lord.”

“An unexpected pregnancy can be a difficult and frightening time, and it’s important that your friend knows you are thinking of her and supporting her. ...don’t forget the most important thing is to pray. Even if it’s just a quick two-second prayer, prayer is the most effective way we can help. Pray for her, for her child, and for guidance in how you can give her the best possible support.”

Come join the SSPP Chapter of World Apostolate of Fatima, USA

We invite you to join us as we increase our devotion to Our Lady of Fatima and bring Our Lady’s Blue Army to Saints Peter and Paul. Our Lady has given us the formula to bring about peace in our times and to save souls from going to Hell.

As Mary instructed the children

at Fatima, we will pray the Rosary and commit to the pledges

Our Lady promised.

Through May, we will meet on the first Thursday of every month at 6:30pm in the Holy Family Chapel in the Ministry Center. We will pray the Rosary and continue to review the Fatima Prayer Cell Program. Please bring your Rosary and, if you did not do so already, $5.00 for the Fatima Prayer Book.

Contact Joan Nocera at 630-484-7320 with any questions.

We Need Your Help! Please prayerfully consider joining our Saints Peter and Paul volunteers to offer an hour of prayerful witness outside of Planned Parenthood on Friday, January 17th. We have volunteers in one-hour shifts from 7am-2pm every third Friday of the month. Your prayers on the sidewalk outside this abortion clinic help support the efforts of pro-life sidewalk counselors to offer abortion-bound mothers the help they need to choose life. Your prayers help open those women’s hearts to life. They may even help convert those working in the abortion clinic. Pray in whatever fashion suits you—Scripture reading, the Rosary, interior prayer, hymns, etc., but pray quietly, to be heard by God and His angels, not passersby. Offer prayers for the abortion-bound women in the clinic. Pray for their babies. Pray for the clinic staff to be converted. Pray for any pro-life counselors who are there. If you see a specific woman entering the clinic, pray for her and whoever has brought her to the clinic that day. Please call Jane Fonner at 630-851-8433 or email her at [email protected] for more information, or to let her know you are available this month. We can all call upon God to grant us power over the evil of abortion.

For more information, please contact our Grand Knight, Tom Rogers at 630-818-7818 or our Membership Director, Nick Thompson at 815-871-4218. The Kaycee Cub Hall is available for parties and meet-ings. The Naperville Knights of Columbus meets there on the first Tuesday every month. Contact Al Knoeck at 630-369-2992 for more information. NEWS FROM THE KNIGHTS Saint Vincent de Paul After Jesus was baptized, he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and a voice was heard “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” As we give to the poor, we also can hear these same words.

Have you considered joining the Society of

St. Vincent de Paul so that you can live your Baptism more fully?

Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of Saint Vincent

de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-

person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and its patron, Saint Vincent de Paul. Please call 630-718-2127 to

learn more or to request assistance.

Transitional Housing Ministry

Please remember our hard-working families in your pray-ers. While the holiday season is a particularly difficult time for these homeless families, gifts from parishioners through the Christmas Giving Tree in the Ministry Center, and other personal gifts from parishioners helped to make this a blessed Christmas. Thank you for your continued generosity and support. If you would like more information regarding the Transi-tional Housing Ministry, please stop by our “booth” at the Ministry Fair in the lower level of the Ministry Center after any of the Masses on Saturday night or Sunday next weekend (January 18 and 19). Members of our Ministry will be there to hand out information and answer any questions that you might have. Also, please feel free to contact Tom Dorn at 630-270-7303 or [email protected].

Please continue to drop off your Loaves & Fishes

donations outside the Holy Family Chapel. All donations, big or small, are greatly

appreciated. Non-perishable items only, please.

"Novena for Life" and "9 Days for Life" From January 21st to the 29th, the Knights of Columbus Council 1369 will be holding a Pro Life "Novena for Life." The "Novena for Life" is being promoted by both the USCCB and the Knights of Columbus. Please visit "9daysforlife.com" to receive email reminders each day or download the app. "9 days for Life" on Google play or Apple. Then follow the prayers for each of the 9 days. We will meet on January 18th, at 9:00am, at the regular Knights of Columbus monthly Rosary in front of Planned Parenthood in Aurora (3051 East New York Street) to recite the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and the "Novena for Life prayers." We will also pray for any personal prayer requests. This will be an excellent oppor-tunity to receive credit for a Plenary or Partial indulgence. Please contact John Zabinski at 630-747-8439 with any questions.

*Names that are bolded are newly added this week*

We wish to offer our sympathy and a promise of our prayers to the family and friends of:

Richard Carter, Paul Jacobs, Mary Long, Virginia Moore

In your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters. In this life you embraced them with your tender love; deliver them now from every evil and bid them eternal rest. The old order has passed away: welcome them into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain, but fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen

Pray With Us

St. Francis Chapel of Eucharistic Adoration Flame of Faith Candles

Six candles burn perpetually around the Blessed Sacrament in our St. Francis Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. The burning candles serve as a constant prayer before the Lord, present in the Blessed Sacrament. Envelopes for you to have your intention remembered with one of these candles and prayed for ONE WEEK (Sunday to Sunday) are available in the Adoration Chapel. The intentions will be published in the bulletin.

Sunday 9am Wednesday 4pm Monday 1am Friday 12am Monday 1pm Saturday 9pm Tuesday 2am

Please consider joining our Ministry. Sign up online at: www.sspeterandpaul.net. Under Divine Worship choose Adoration Chapel. For more info, call 630-885-1726 or email [email protected]. The following hours are available:

COME AND ADORE HIM IN THE MOST HOLY SACRAMENT...

Visit our Saint Francis Adoration Chapel - Open 24/7

Sit quietly and just “be” in the presence of God. Think of a visit to the Blessed Sacrament as coming to see your best friend. Instead of talking to the Lord, try listening to what He wants to tell you.

EVENING PRAYER AND BENEDICTION

Please join us for Evening Prayer (Vespers) and Benediction, held every Thursday at 6:00pm in the St. Francis Adoration Chapel.

Rosary

Come pray with us on Tuesday evenings

in the Church beginning at 7:30pm.

With our Rosaries, we will ask Our Lady to intercede for our Holy Father’s special intention of the month, as well as for our own intentions, and for world peace without the threat of terrorism. If there is a special intention that you would like to have remembered during the weekly Rosary, please email [email protected] or come to the Tuesday Rosary to add your intention.

Legion of Mary Become acquainted with the Legion of Mary by joining us each Tuesday morning at 10:30am in Room 227 in the Ministry Center in the spirit of faith and in union with our

Blessed Virgin Mary. The Legion of Mary is the largest lay apostolic association of Catholics worldwide who serve the Church by visiting the sick and homebound and by performing many works of promoting our Catholic faith. We pray to Jesus through Mary. Contact Paulette Shea at 630-718-2127 with any questions.
