JANNAT AL-BAQIA Virtual Tour
BAQI IN HISTORYAt the time of the Prophet (S) and after his passing, it became the preferred burial site for his companions and later Muslims.
Later extensions to Baqi comprised of plots that were situated where families once had their homes.
BAQI IN HISTORYThese properties were later annexed to the original site but used for particular families; the house of Aqīl b. Abu Talib became the burial place for his uncle Abbas, his mother Fatima (A) and four Imams of Ahlul Bayt (A).
The area that contains the graves of the Prophet’s (S) family – including his wives, daughters and aunts are known as Maqabir Banu Hashim
