BACKGROUND
My background I grew up in Lawrence County, Kentucky. My
father was a coal miner, and my mother was a stay-at-home mom for most of my childhood.
I graduated from Lawrence County High School. I went to college at Ashland Community and
Technical College and Morehead State University. During my college career, I worked as an intern
at Inez Deposit Bank. I worked as a teacher for the after-school 21st Century Program and as a tutor at Louisa Elementary, while completing my service time as an AmeriCorps member.
I completed my student-teaching and first year of teaching at Louisa Elementary.

I BELIEVE…
We are a team! Collaboration only makes us stronger,
because we are each other’s best asset. We, as educators, never stop learning.
Therefore, we should strive to always get better.
We should have high expectations for ourselves, as well as for those who work alongside us.
The relationships that we build are what matter most in life.
I BELIEVE…
Teaching and learning should always be our primary focus.
All decisions should be made based on what will have the best impact on student achievement.
We must be open to new ideas. We must be open to others’ viewpoints
and suggestions. Everyone should be treated equally and
fairly.
I BELIEVE…
Our students are what matter most. We should be willing to do whatever it takes to
instill a love of learning in our students. We owe it to the students to given them our
undivided attention and support, while they are in our presence.
ALL children CAN learn. Our students know if we enjoy being with them. We should show our students love, kindness,
and compassion. We should smile often, especially at school.
