Infectious diseases are caused by pathogenic microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungi; the diseases can be spread, directly or indirectly, from one person to another.

Lesions from in mouth on the sides of tongue, inside cheeks and on gums. Lesions may also occur on the palms and fingers and on the sole of the feet.

Exclude until fever is gone, lesions or rash may still be present.

Rash consisting of pink bumps or tiny blisters and intense itching, which is more severe at night. Common locations of the rash are fold of skin between fingers, around wrists and elbows and armpits, however rash can appear other places. Infants and young children may be infested on head, neck, palms and soles of feet.

Exclude until 24 hours after treatment beings.

Lesions form on the skin and produce a thick golden-yellow discharge that dries, crusts and sticks to skin.

Exclude till child has been treated with antibiotics for 24 hours.

A raised rash, feels like sandpaper. The rash blanches with pressure. The rash appears most often on the neck, chest, in folds of the armpit, elbow, groin, and in the inner thigh. Later there may be peeling of the skin on the finger tips and toes.

Exclude until 24 hours after antibiotic treatment begins and child is without fever for 24 hours.

Rash can present. Exclude per Doctor’s orders. THIS IS A REPORTABLE

Early Stages Later Stages

Red bumps, which turn into small blisters within several hours, then scab over after a few days.

Exclude per Doctors orders

Flat, spreading ring-shaped lesions. On scalp ringworm may be hard to detect in early stages. Small scaly patch, mild redness, swelling and pustules may occur.

Exclude until 24 hours after treatment has been started.

Scalp lesion

Exclusion: None. According to CDC outbreaks of thrush in child care settings may be the result of increased use of antibiotics rather than newly acquired infections.

Rash will be present. Exclude until 7 days after the

rash appears. This is a reportable disease to

the Health Department

A rash will appear as the fever breaks. The rash will be on the trunk and neck and may later spread to the rest of the body.

Exclude until child is without fever for 24 hours and other rash illnesses, especially measles, have been ruled out.

Red blotchy rash appears on the 3rd to 7th day, usually beginning on the face and spreading down the trunk, arms and legs.

Exclude for 4 days after the rash appears.

3rd Day Pictures

Clusters of blisters appear, usually on one side of the body and closer together than chickenpox. Commonly around the trunk or on the face.

Exclusion – if blisters can be covered by clothing or bandage, no exclusion is needed. If blisters cannot be covered, people should be excluded until the blisters have crusted.

Intense redness of the cheeks (slapped cheek). It begins on cheeks and is later found on the arms, upper body, buttocks and legs. It has a very fine, lacy pink appearance.

No need to exclude if all other illnesses have been ruled out.

Rash can be present. Usually red blotches under the skin.

Exclude till child is well enough to return to normal activities.
