Why did I pick Jane Bown … ?
Who is Jane Bown … ?She is a British photographer. She was married to Martin Moss, a fashion retail executive, who died in November of 2007. During the years she has became many people's favorite photographer. She has took many photos of the most famous individuals of the second half of the twentieth century. Her methods are straight forward of how she does her work.
I picked Jane Bown because I lovetaking pictures in black and whiteand also taking pictures of people, either when they aren’t expecting it, or when it is being posed. I also pickedJane because I thought her work shedid was really good, by the way her lighting is all natural and no light, like lamps are being used.
What do/did Jane take shots of ?
She mainly took black and white portrait photos. After she graduated from Guilford School of Photography, she took a career in child photographer.
Her shots lasted no more than 15 minutes, and therewere no props involved in herphotography.
Jane takes portraits of a variety of people.(politicians, royalty, film stars, directors, writers,comics, artists, dancers, athletes, etc.)

Where did Jane live & go to school at … ?Jane Bown was born in Eastnor Herefordshine in 1925. She spent the war in Liverpool working as a chart corrector. After leaving the service she had been offered a two-year grant to study a course of her choice and looking at her options she decided to learn photography at the Guilford School of Photography.
Why did Jane choose photography … ?
She was given a grant to college, butshe had no idea what she wanted to take, shejust looked at the list of studies to do in college, and she chose photography to see how it would work out for her. She was told to go out and take photographs her firstday of class, she didn’t even know how to take them. Over the next couple of years, she found her distinctivestyle, which is black and white portraits.
Some interesting facts about Jane … She has worked for The Observer in United Kingdomsince 1949.
In 1985, she was awarded the MBE and in 1995, the CBE for her outstanding contribution to photography.
She doesn’t use artificial light, sheuses natural lighting, and her camerais at least 40 years old.
