Resume

Summary I have been working in the visual arts or the passed 25 years. I currently own and run my own art gallery in Boise,Idaho. Tis is the third incarnation o my gallery, the first being in Sussex, England. Prior to this I worked or anumber o publicly unded galleries in the UK, including the Crafs Council, Islington, London, Kent CountyCouncil and Hastings Borough Council. Most recently I completed my training to become an accredited personalproperty appraiser though the ISA, giving me increased insight into the secondary art market, art investment and thedonation o artwork 

I have owned, programed and managed my own gallery since 2007. Having worked as an Exhibition Officer or Arts

Development Officer or the first hal o my career, becoming an independent curator gave me reedom rom thechanging remits demanded by unders in exchange or commercial business restraints. Tis has required the developmento new skills, rom building management to financial planning. I am proud o the work my small staff and I haveachieved in presenting an exciting program o curated exhibitions, while balancing a sales income generated budget.

  1513 North 13th Street  Boise, Idaho, 83702  Brumfield LLC initially purchased an existing gallery business in Boise, the ‘Basement Gallery’. We

purchased the current building in September 2012 so that we could better develop our own identity as agallery through a curated program.

January 2007 - November 2010Gallery Owner and Director

  Brumfield Limited  Weekend Gallery   86 High Street  Hastings, Sussex, UK  As a Director and Secretary or Brumfield Limited, a UK based company, I managed and programmed the

Weekend Gallery. I moved to Boise in December 2009, continuing to program the space and remotemanage the Gallery Manager through Noveember 2010. Te business owned the building, selling theproperty in 2014.

January 2004 - December 2006  Exhibitions Officer  Hastings Museum and Art Gallery   Hastings, East Sussex, UK  I was responsible or the gallery exhibition program and related event. Tis included programming, curating

exhibitions, marketing, unding applications and evaluation.

August 2002 - December 2003  Website Development

  britishart.us.co.uk   win Falls, Idaho, US  Working with website designers and a 3D scanning technology company I originated and developed a

platorm or the promotion o British Artists in the US. Tis was an early online project utilizing dynamicpages and technologies.

Nov 1999 - June 2001  Exhibitions Officer

Crafs Council  Islington, London, UK  I was responsible or the development and implementation o the exhibition program or the Crafs Council

Gallery. Tis included research, curating, project development, production o editorial material, project

management, print and design management, budget management, supervision o staff and contractors,monitoring o environmental controls, a knowledge o conservational issues, a responsibility or health andsaety or staff and visitors, whilst maintaining quality standards throughout.

While at the Crafs Council I managed the Crafs Council’s exhibitions, ‘Ripe’, ‘ectonic’, ‘Close’, and ‘Fabrico Fashion’. I supported the curators, assisted the research or, and managed the exhibitions ‘An Industry oOne’ and ‘Contemporary Japanese Jewelry’. I originated, researched and curated the exhibition and book ‘OnPaper’.

1997-1999  Shepway Arts Officer

Kent County CouncilFokestone Library, Museum & Sasson Gallery 

  Folkestone, Kent, UK.  I was responsible or the promotion o the arts within Shepway’s libraries and library galleries, through aprogram o exhibitions, projects and events. I launched a new rural Craf Gallery and initiated anddeveloped a major reurbishment project or Folkestone Library, Museum and Sassoon Gallery. Te projectincorporated urniture designed by Shin and omoko Azumi, and a commissioned work by urner Prizewinner, Chris Ofili, who also collaborated with David Adjaye on the architectural design.

1993 - 1996Exhibitions Officer

  Rye Art GalleryRye, East Sussex, UK

  I was responsible or the exhibition program and gallery management or the Stormont Studio and EastonRooms Galleries. During my time here I worked on raising the profile o the gallery’s craf program

acquiring a Crafs Council Gallery Recommendation.

1987 - 1993Practicing ArtistI worked as a practicing artist or a number o years afer graduating and participated in a co-operativegallery. Tis experience was undamental in my decision to move into arts administration.

Additional Projects

Jan 2009 – Dec 2010First Tursday : Hastings

  Brumfield Limited originated the First Tursday initiative in Hastings. Tis is a collaborative arts marketingproject promoting 12 Hastings’ Old own’s galleries. Tis included coordinating with all o the participants,

collating inormation, managing and implementing a marking plan, and designing and building a website.

1996-1997Barbarella: Dolls & Doll Imagery 

  I independently curated ‘Barbarella: Dolls & Doll Imagery’, which later toured through Kent County Councilto a number o venues in England.
