About JanaJana Jelavich is from Yuba City, California, but has moved to Reno, NV to attend UNR. She is currently a sophomore and 19 years old. She plans to graduate in 2012. Jana is a member of a sorority on campus, Delta Delta Delta. She loves being a part of this organization not only for St. Jude, but she said, “Tri-Delta has made me the better well-rounded person I am today.” Jana holds the office of Philanthropy Chair in Tri-Delta. As Philanthropy Chair she is in charge of setting up events to raise money for St. Jude. She loves this office and the work she is able to do with St. Jude and can’t wait to continue to do more.

Children Of St. Jude• St. Jude Children’s research hospital, which was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas in 1962, maintains 60 inpatient beds and treats about 230 patients each day.•St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay.•The hospital’s daily operating costs are approximately $1,216,247 which are primarily covered by public contributions. •Since its inception, St. Jude has developed protocols that have brought survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20% to more than 70% overall.•In 1999 St. Jude was adopted as Tri-Delta’s national philanthropy•Tri Delta has raised 6.8+ million dollars since 1999•STORY OF THE RED WAGON: the little red wagon can be seen all around St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It carries many passengers on a daily basis to see the doctor, get chemotherapy, receive radiation, to rehabilitation, to get lunch, and even as a resting place for those that just need a break. The little red wagon is a very important part of the healing process for the patients.
