Jan & Dan Long Term Care Mother’s and Father’s Day Parade Many vehicles, decorated for Mothers’ and Fathers’ days, formed a parade and drove past the Greeley County Long Term Care facility on Saturday, May 9th. Greeley County Fire Department purchases thermal imaging camera with CHS donation Through a donation from CHS, the Greeley County Fire Department will be purchasing a thermal imaging camera to help detect hot spots in buildings. J — Today, Monday, the weather feels like we have skipped summer and gone into late fall. So far, the cold and the wind have brought a touch of rain; hoping for more today and tonight. A friend reminded me that we have aboriginal rain sticks we should be shaking!! **** J – Our condolences to the family of Nancy Brindle. Nancy was an elementary teacher here for many years, and a piano teacher, as well. She was multi-talented and I remember her as being a very pleasant person who contributed much to the community. Her daughter Harmony and our son Aaron were in the same class in school, graduating in 1999. A year later, she and her husband Chris, a coach and teacher, moved to eastern Kansas, where she continued to teach and contribute her talents. She will be dearly missed by her large extended family and many friends and former students. **** J — The covid-19 situation is beginning to wear on people, including me. I admit to feeling quite overwhelmed at times. The “what ifs” can be difficult. We have been lucky to still have our jobs, which entail some interaction with people, and we aren’t living in a “hot spot.” I am thankful to have had long conversations with our two children, and my sister and facetime with granddaughter Jade for Mother’s Day. All are ok. Still, it will be good when we are past this – we hope Greeley County remains one of the counties with “0” cases… **** J — We saw some new birds at our feeders this week — Mountain Blue Bird, Oriole, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Spotted Towhee, and Goldfinches. **** D Social distancing prohibits family visits to the Long Term Care. So we innovate. I thought that the parade of vehicles past the Long Term Care home on Sunday was an effective way to bridge the gap. Everyone seems to enjoy the parade. **** D — In the early 80s I spent an afternoon with Judge Stovall of the 5 th Federal District Court in Houston. We talked about how the government would make gradual changes in our privacy laws that would be accepted by the population rather than a sudden shift that would be rejected. Years later I heard of this process referred to as the “Totalitarian Tip-Toe.” If you can identify the end goal, then the individual steps become clear. China’s social credit index is a case in point. Total control of the individual is the goal. Alexis doesn’t just talk, she listens. So does your smart phone and TV. How the information is used follows the Totalitarian Tip- Toe. It provides you answers to your questions, but it also can be used to assure proper social distancing. The next step is an implanted chip to assure that you have been vaccinated. Total tracking. Obey. Be safe. Eliminate free will. **** D — There was a small amount of rain in Tribune on Monday afternoon and night but the county needs additional rains that hopefully will come this week. I was sound asleep early Tuesday morning, but Jan was woken by a muffled explosion that took out our electricity. The newspaper office wasn’t affected so we will be able to get the paper sent on the Internet to be printed in Hutchinson. We are dependent on our infrastructures. **** TRIBUNE, KANSAS. (MAY 11, 2020) – Every second counts when detecting and fighting fires, and through a donation from CHS, the Greeley County Fire Department can now purchase a thermal imaging camera to detect hot spots quicker and easier. The fire department received a $8,794.68 grant from CHS United Plains Ag and CHS (Quinter) to purchase the thermal imaging camera through the CHS Seeds for Stewardship grant program. Locally, CHS has locations in Tribune, Sharon Springs, Weskan, Wallace, Selkirk, Quinter and Colby. (See Fire Department... Page 5)
