“This is the year to realize Our full potential.” This is The Year to Soar! By the Reverend Nancy Norman This is the year to soar; this is the year of pure dynamic possibilities and potentials. This is the year to rise above seeming difficulties and limitations; this is the year to remember that nothing is impossible to God. The Bible says, "They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31) When we align ourselves with our mighty force for good, God, the good omnipotent, there is a deep inner knowing that nothing is impossible. The possibilities of good health, energy, prosperity, loving relationships, zest for life, peace of mind, joy and happiness become a reality when we align ourselves with God. We find that we become like magnets, drawing to us the people, conditions and circumstances we need to enhance our lives. Richard Bach's Jonathan Livingston Seagull gives us the key to realizing our magnificence: "I want to learn to fly like that," Jonathan said, and a strange light glowed in his eyes. "Tell me what to do." Chiang spoke slowly and watched the younger gull ever so carefully, "To fly as fast as thought, to anywhere that is, you must begin by knowing that you have already arrived ...” he said. The trick, according to Chiang, was for Jonathan to stop seeing himself as trapped inside a limited body with a 42-inch wingspan. The trick was to know that his true nature lived everywhere at once across space and time. The key, as Jonathan found, was to acknowledge his greatness and perfection, to know that life was a stream of pure potential with no limitation. This inner knowing gave Jonathan access to everything he needed for a life of wonder, joy and comfort. So many of us settle for less. We make trade-offs and adjustments that drain our creativity and vigor. We bargain with life, treating it as a struggle. If we are living a life of drudgery, it is time to get a new vision and conduct our days and years from this point forward with a willingness to learn, grow, transform and live in joy. When we live from the point of unlimited possibilities, when we get that life was never meant to be a struggle, then we begin to see that what we want to experience will come to us quickly with ease and under grace. Jesus told us, "be not anxious." Whatever we need, want or desire is already available for our acceptance. Our part is to maintain a gentle intention for the desired result. The universe always rushes forth to supply us with our clear and definite intentions. This is the year, the year to realize our magnificence, the year to realize our full potential. “This is the year to realize Our full potential.”

This is The Year to Soar!

By the Reverend Nancy Norman This is the year to soar; this is the year of pure dynamic possibilities and potentials. This is the year to rise above seeming difficulties and limitations; this is the year to remember that nothing is

impossible to God. The Bible says, "They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31) When we align ourselves with our mighty force for good, God, the good omnipotent, there is a deep

inner knowing that nothing is impossible. "Tell me what to do."

Chiang spoke slowly and watched the younger gull ever so carefully, "To fly as fast as thought, to anywhere that is, you must begin by knowing that you have already arrived ...” he said.

Our part is to maintain a gentle intention for the

desired result. The universe always rushes forth to supply us with our clear and definite intentions. This is the year, the year to realize our magnificence, the year to realize our full potential.

The Burning Bowl Ceremony

Wed., Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. We all have regrets, fears, and resentments from our past that we hold onto for one reason or another. With the burning bowl ritual, we can finally let those negative energies go and make room for Divine Love, healing, and acceptance. In the Burning Bowl Ceremony, we write all the things we want to be free of on special paper, and it burns away very quickly in the bowl. We then write our goals and commitments for 2015. It’s good to arrive early. This is one of the most popular evenings of the New Year! Love offering.

The White Stone Ceremony Wed., Jan. 14. at 7 p.m.

Licensed Unity Teacher, Madaline Lawrence, leads this tribute to personal freedom, giving us a chance to choose a new spiritual name or idea for ourselves in alignment with spiritual qualities we want to manifest in our daily lives. The White Stone is a harmonic complement to the previous week’s Burning Bowl. Join Madaline for a time of reflection and expression of spirit. Arrive early to assure a seat. Love offering.

Join many thousands who have experienced the life-changing

benefits of 4T The 4T Prosperity Program is a 12-week program dedicated to the idea of living an abundant life…free of the feeling of fear and insecurity, free of thoughts of lack and limitation, centered in the abundance of God. When that connection with God is made, wondrous events occur and people experience a deeper spiritual awareness, enhanced relationships, job satisfaction, financial security, self-esteem, and better health. To date, the 4T Prosperity Program has been presented in more than 600 Unity, Religious Science and other New Thought churches to more than 100,000 students around the world. Join Nancy Norman at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 18 in the Sanctuary for an introductory overview and refresher on the 4T Program. The 12-week 4T Program classes will run Tuesdays starting January 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, or 7 to 9 p.m. in the Sanctuary. The workbook with recordings cost about $50. The 4T Ministry's mission is to teach others to put God first in all that they do in order to experience miracles and change lives. It is the promise of Jesus fulfilled:

GRATITUDE, HEALTH, DREAM, and SPIRITUAL JOURNALS

Journaling (or keeping letters or diaries) is an ancient tradition, one that dates back to at least tenth-century Japan. Successful people throughout history have kept journals. Presidents have maintained them for posterity; other famous figures for their own purposes. Oscar Wilde, nineteenth-century playwright, said: “I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read on the train.” Scientific evidence supports that journaling provides unexpected joys. Remember to Remember God By Laurie Durgan

Happy New Year! Here are five very important Truths to remember. They will help you and God make this the happiest year yet for you.

1. God is all good and active in everything, everywhere.

You live in a beautiful world! You make it beautiful! It is beautiful when you see it as beautiful. God is in

everyone and everything everywhere and God is good, but you must look for the good to see it! God is in the oceans, butterflies and flowers, spiders, snakes and thunder. God is in the bully who is unkind and the

darkness when you turn out the light to go to bed. Open your eyes and say a prayer and see that God is everywhere.

2. I am naturally good because God’s Divinity is in me and in everyone. You are here to be God in this world. People feel the love of God when they feel your love. People see the light of God in your smile. They hear God’s peace in your kind words and they are blessed by your special spirit. Everything you will ever need is already within you. Strength, courage, peace, love, joy and wisdom are all there; you just need to quietly remember this in prayer. Jesus said “Even the smallest of you can do all that I have done and GREATER! Nothing is impossible for God.” You and God are amazing!

3. I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.

Your thoughts create your life and you are the one who thinks your thoughts! You get to create your life! Jesus said “…believe and you will receive…” Believe in the power of God in you. Whatever it is you want to see in your life, pray it, believe it and you will see it. Say this often silently and out loud: I look for good and good I find, for I attract what’s in my mind. You will be a magnet for all the good you pray for.

4. Through prayer and meditation, I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.

The most beautiful prayer you could ever say is one from your heart. God loves you and you can talk to God like a friend. Nothing is more important than spending time talking and listening to God. God speaks to you in your thoughts, feelings, ideas, nature, dreams and in the peaceful silence. When you remember to take just a minute or two to pray and listen, you will feel better.

5. I do and give my best by living the Truth. I make a difference!

No one is like you! You are amazing, and God created you to be you. You are the light of the world. You are loveable and important. When you do your best and give the world your best, you are shining your light! You are perfect just the way you are, and God loves you sooo much!

Our Congregational Meeting is Sunday, March 1 at 12:30 p.m.

Our annual meeting will be held Sunday, March 1 at 12:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Everyone who attends the church is welcome, but only current members may vote. For the meeting attendees, a light lunch will be served in Mary Kupferle Fellowship Hall following the 11 a.m. service. The nominating committee was comprised of the Reverend Nancy Norman, minister and CEO; board representatives R. Scott Cornelius, president, and Ann Alexander, member; and church members Judy Reimers and Margaret Coleman. The committee has recommended the nominees below to fill the 2015-2016 openings on the church board of directors.

Anthony H. Holliday, Jr. is a Delray Beach native, son of a high school principal and a first grade teacher. He attended Carver High School and Prairie View A & M in Texas, and was a member of its a cappella concert choir. He still loves to sing and is a current member of The Ebony Chorale of the Palm Beaches. After a brief stint as a high school teacher, Anthony was commissioned as an officer of probation & parole in Dade County, Miami, Florida. This was followed by University of Miami School of Law. After law school, he was hired as an assistant professor of criminal justice at Florida Atlantic University. Anthony became intrigued by labor law and went on to earn a master’s degree in it from Georgetown University. It was there in Washington D. C. that he first became part of Unity, at the Unity Center of Christianity, where, after a few years in the congregation, he served as chairman of the board of directors.

Anthony’s diverse career also includes serving as a labor relations advisor with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Department of the Navy and the Federal Labor Relations Authority. Additionally, he has taught doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate students at Florida Atlantic University, Howard University, University of Maryland, University of the District of Columbia, and Fielding Graduate University, where he also served as faculty trustee for the university’s board of trustees. Currently, he is president of The Holliday Consulting Group, LLC. Among their services are conflict resolution, mediation, managing diversity and inclusion, critical thinking, academic writing, anger management, leadership and change, curriculum development and education. Anthony is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity International, Inc. He recently married Renee Wells and has one daughter, two stepsons, seven grandchildren and 6 ½ great grandchildren. He loves to sing, fish, study metaphysics, pray, and meditate. He feels his purposes in life are educating and peacemaking. Over the years, he has learned that “Life is not about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.”

Unity of Delray Beach Book Club Meet in the Prayer Room, 7:15 p.m.

WED., JAN 21 The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself, By Michael A. Singer

By tapping into traditions of meditation and mindfulness, author and spiritual teacher, Michael A. Singer shows how the development of consciousness can enable us all to dwell in the present moment and let go of painful thoughts and memories that keep us from achieving happiness and self-realization. What would it be like to free yourself from limitations and soar beyond your boundaries? What can you do each day to discover inner peace and serenity? The Untethered Soul—now a #1 New York Times bestseller—offers simple yet profound answers to these questions.

WED., FEB. 18 The Conscious Parent, by Dr. Shefali Tsabary

At the heart of Dr. Shefali's approach is the idea that conscious parenting is an unending journey -- not an achievement you can earn and complete. “This is not some perfect destination where you get an award [like], 'You Are Now a Conscious Parent," Dr. Shefali says. "It is a constant state of evolution." In a conscious approach to parenting, however, children serve as mirrors of their parents' forgotten selves. Those willing to look in the mirror have an opportunity to establish a relationship with their own inner state of wholeness. Once they find their way back to their essence, parents enter into communion with their children, shifting away from the traditional parent-to-child "know it all" approach and more towards a mutual parent-with-child relationship. The pillars of the parental ego crumble as the parents awaken to the ability of their children to transport them into a state of presence.

A SPECIAL MOVIE NIGHT: Heartwarming film, HONOR FLIGHT Friday, February 27, 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary

Reception to follow in Mary Kupferle Fellowship Hall

Honor Flight is a heartwarming documentary about four living World War II veterans and a Midwest community coming together to give them the trip of a lifetime. Volunteers race against the clock to fly thousands of WWII veterans to Washington, DC to see the memorial constructed for them in 2004, nearly 60 years after their epic struggle. The trips are called “Honor Flights” and for the veterans, who are in their late 80s and early 90s, it’s often the first time they’ve been thanked and the last trip of their lives. The 24-hour journey is full of surprises that deeply moves all who are involved. It’s uncommon for World War II veterans to talk about the War, but the Honor Flight experience brings their stories out. Many veterans say, with the exception of their wedding day and the birth of their children, the trip is the best day of their life. However, success is all but ensured. 1,000 World War II veterans die every day and getting them on an Honor Flight in time is a constant battle. The film features Orville Lemke, a former plumber and beloved father of nine, who fights to hold off terminal cancer so he can make the trip, and Julian Plaster, an 89-year-old poet who has survived almost all of his friends and family. Honor Flight also chronicles the stories of veterans Joe Demler and Harvey Kurz. They raise money for and promote the Honor Flight program to help fly as many of their fellow veterans as possible. Joe, a soft-spoken retired postmaster, was famously pictured in Life magazine as “the Human Skeleton” upon his liberation from a German POW camp. Days from death, he weighed just 70 lbs. His

comedic sidekick, Harvey, saw the iconic flag go up at the Battle of Iwo Jima, unbeknownst to the shoppers he bags groceries for at the local Pick n’ Save. As the Honor Flight trip unfolds, Orville, Julian, Joe, Harvey and others share their stories and wisdom. While the Honor Flight program is meant to give something back to these humble heroes, the sheer goodness they embody and their profound appreciation for life in freedom, transforms the lives of everyone they meet. Thanks to Janet Hoose here at Unity of Delray Beach for making the screening at our church happen. Helping fly veterans on Honor Flights is one

way to get involved; capturing vets’ stories is another. Through its Veterans History Project, the Library of Congress has collected and preserved over 80,000 personal accounts of American war veterans. Learn more about the project at www.loc.gov/vets. The Honor Flight Network is a nonprofit organization that has flown over 100,000 veterans to Washington, DC. It consists of 117 hubs across the country. If you’d like to get involved or donate to the cause, please visit: http://www.honorflightsefl.org The Southeast Florida Honor

Flight hub is based in Stuart Florida and covers Palm Beach, Martin, St Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee Counties. Learn more about them at: http://www.honorflightsefl.org You can see the movie’s video preview at http://youtu.be/zSF0S50c9c0

Pinocchio’s Unexpected Adventure By Sandi Soefer

My boyfriend, Ed, and I set out for a Halloween Cruise with our Pinocchio and Gepetto costumes all ready for the contest. This cruise was supposed to be our anniversary gift to each other in celebration of eight years together.

The experience was not the fantastic Halloween Celebration I hoped for, but, in the end, we all wound up safe and sound. I believed God would not let anything happen to me so I prayed quietly as everyone else around us was in a state of panic. My fear was lifted, and I believe my prayers helped not only me, but all 960 passengers on the ship. Here is what happened... The ship suddenly hit something which tore a hole in the hull. The crew was totally disorganized, unable to give

directions on what to do or where to go.. There were no life jackets in our cabins, and everyone was scrambling around to find one. The lifeboats could not be detached to lower into the water. The alarms were blasting, and the lights were out. Pandemonium reigned! It took many hours to get us to shore, as we were being pulled by a tugboat. Many of us were still in our Halloween costumes without sweaters to keep warm. The entire ordeal lasted approximately 36 hours until we were finally safely home. My prayers were answered because of my faith in all I have learned from the Unity teachings. Still in our costumes and in the middle of all the insanity, a thought came to me (which I believe came from God): Become your character. Many people began laughing when I waved to everyone as Pinocchio while Ed, as Gepetto, worked the puppet strings on me. It was a great moment, and it helped ease the fear of all the people around me. And then another miracle happened after we were placed on a rescue ship, cold, exhausted and hungry. People slept on the floor and elsewhere, as the ship could not accommodate so many of us along with their own passengers. I went up to the desk and asked if there was somewhere we could rest other than the floor. The staff gave us a stateroom with a large window which "just happened" to be available. God is good! All we have to do is ask for what we want, visualize the outcome, and KNOW it will happen.

From early Unity…

THE UNITY WAY

We are sometimes asked, “What is it that makes a Unity student different from other people?

We answer that it is thought and attitudes, actions and reactions,

and the approach to life and its challenges.

A Unity student acts positively, instead of reacting negatively.

A Unity student’s words are kind, helpful, and uplifting, not angry or discouraging.

A Unity student seeks the good in all situations,

even those that seem adverse to him/her.

A Unity student beholds the Christ in all persons, even at those times when it is difficult to do so.

A Unity student does not use force or threats to gain an advantage;

he or she prays and trusts God to bring forth the highest good for all.

A Unity student gives of himself/herself just for the sake of expressing good, rather than to be “seen of men”.
