    Order of WorshipJanuary 2nd, 2010

    Prelude

    Opening of the Word

    Call to Worship

Behold, I bring you good tidings of a great joy, which shall beto all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David

a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:10, 11

Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he willdwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God him-

self shall be with them, and be their God. Revelation 21:3

    Opening Hymn

    Another Year is Dawning

    Congregational and Pastoral Prayer

    The Lords Prayer

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom

come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our

daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial; and deliver us from evil. For Thine is the

kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen

Affirmation of FaithWe worship the One God, the Lord the Savior Jesus Christ; in whom is the

Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; whose humanity is divine. He came

into the world and took our nature upon him. He endured temptation, even

to the Passion of the Cross. He overcame the hells, and so delivered all.

Without this, no mortal could have been saved; and they are saved who

believe in Him, and keep the commandments of His Word. This is His

commandment; that we love one another as He has loved us.

    Doxology

To Jesus Christ be glory givenBy all on Earth and all in Heaven

    Let his dominion wide extend,

His glorious kingdom have no end

    The Sacrament of Communion

    I will go to the altar of God;

    To God my highest joy.

    I will wash my hands in innocence;

And will go around your altar, O Lord.

The minister uncovers the bread and wine (grape juice)

It will be said in that day, Lo, this is our God. We have waited

    for him,

    and he will save us.

This is the Lord. We have waited for him. We will be glad and

    rejoice in his salvation.

    Let us pray.

    All sit

All togetherHoly and merciful Lord, conscious of our need of you, we

come to your holy table so that you may feed us with the

bread of life. We come, not trusting in our own goodness,

but in your loving kindness. According to your Word, we

now present ourselves before you, to keep the blessed me-

morial of our redemption in the way that you have taught

    us.

O Lord, sanctify with your divine presence, and bless

with your heavenly grace, what we are about to do. And

as of old, you blessed the bread and the cup that you

gave to your disciples, bless now the bread to be broken

and the cup to be given in your name. Grant that we

may receive them in the spirit of love and faith towardyou, and in peace with one another, so that we may be

truly fed at your table with the spiritual food of your

divine body and blood. May the Holy Supper be a sign

and seal to us that we are your children, opening to us

the mansions of heaven, and uniting us with you forev-

    er. Amen.

The InstitutionThe minister says, breaking the bread

Now when the evening had come, Jesus sat down with thetwelve. And as they were eating, he took bread and blessed

it and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, Take, eat; this is my body.

The minister says, pouring out the wine

And he took a cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink from it, all of you; for this is my blood of the

new covenant, which is poured out for many for the for-giveness of sins.

The ElevationThe minister raises the bread before the open Bible

Jesus lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, Father, the hour has

come. Glorify your Son, that the Son may glorify you, since youhave given him power over all people, to give eternal life to all

those you have given him.The minister raises the cup

And for their sake I sanctify myself, that they also may be sancti-

fied. Sanctify them in the truth. Your word is truth.Turning to the people, the minister says

Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

remembrance of me.When all have partaken of the bread, the minister says

Anyone who comes to me will never hunger. When presenting the wine, the minister says

Jesus said, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is
