Vaishno Devi

» Vaishno Devi Temple is one of the most visited and worshipped pilgrimages in India throughout the year.

» The shrine of Vaishno Devi is covered with snow in the winter.

» Situated at a height of 5200 feet above sea level and it is better to avoid visiting this pilgrimage during severe winters as the path becomes very dangerous due to snowfall and sleet.

» The fish-shaped aquarium is the largest underground aquarium in the country and hosts an impressive collection of fish.

» The aquarium is 22m in length and exhibits around 400 species of fish.

Nathatop

» Nathatop is one of the most popular attraction, it offers a great view of snow coated hills specially during winters.

» Now a days Nathatop is most popular due to paragliding. Hi flying from Nathatop will make you feel like that you are walking on the clouds.


» Amar Mahal Palace Museum is situated at the top of a hill, it offers a commanding view of the river Tawi and the Shivalik ranges towards the north.

Nubra Valley

Zansakar

» Zansakar is also known as ‘The Virgin Vale’, the most isolated of all the trans Himalayan Valleys.

» Steep, high brown peaks with a deep, nearly treeless valley between them and a limitless blue sky filled with clouds like mountains.

» A long frozen river in a vertiginous defile.

Pangong Tso

» Pangong Lake is long, narrow and enchanted lake, it is an endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,350m.

» During winter the lake freezes completely, despite being saline water.

Drass

» Drass is the 2nd coldest place on earth after Siberia with temperature falling to 590 degrees centigrade during peak winter.

» The town of Drass is located in a relatively flat and open space. In summer this town presents a pleasant look while in winter it discovered under a thick blanket of snow.

Rangdum

» Rangdum is an elliptical expanded plateau surrounded by colourful hills on the one side and glacier encrusted rocky mountains on the other.

» Rangdum is the farthest and the most isolated part of the Suru Valley.

» The Drang-Drung Glacier is likely to be the largest glacier in Ladakh.

» It is the long river of ice and snow, a source of Stod River which is a tributary of Zanskar River.
