James Malinchak’s Develop A Positive Attitude Tips Developing a positive attitude is primarily about retraining the way you think about life. It is not about ignoring the negative aspects of life, but instead about focusing on the positive factors. Anyone can develop a positive attitude, but it does take a bit of determination, and some days a leap of faith. This leap of faith may be needed to change from dwelling on everything wrong to everything right! If you listen to any motivational speaker, they will talk about positive attitude, on accomplishments, on achievement, on moving on if things go wrong. It isn't always easy. If you are overlooked for an internal promotion, for example, it would be easy to think negatively about the situation. You start thinking maybe you need to get a job where you're appreciated. You assume the person appointed got the promotion on his golfing ability and not his leadership skills, and so on. This thought pattern spirals down into greater negativity, perhaps turning inward as punishment for failing. This isn't an easy situation to have to deal with, but try and consider what you could do to make sure that you aren't overlooked for the next promotion. Learn from the experience and continue moving forward. Change the negative energy into positive action. Whenever you hear distressing news, you can't sometimes help but be affected by it. Even if it's a disaster like the terrible Tsunami where you don't know anybody involved personally, you may empathize with the survivors and mourn the loss and the devastation. You can't help that it touches you. Being empathic and compassionate doesn't make you a negative person. Watching the news and resolving never to go to that region in case it happens again, listening to every news broadcast, and watching reruns of the clips with the bodies piled high won't bring those people back. However, it's etching those images on your mind. The reruns aren't played so you learn to be word perfect with the reporters. They're for the people who didn't see them the first time around! You've seen the news, now turn off the TV! Think about the situation if you must, but think about how you could help. Positive action is going to help develop a positive attitude. Along those lines, avoid people you know who are unable to function without negativity. If you can't avoid them, then build up mental body armor against them. When they've got negative things to say, counteract these with positive reflections about the subject. To develop a positive attitude, you don't have to hide away from reality. Rather, you need to live reality in a way that allows you to contribute more effectively within society because you begin looking at how to help resolve the issues creating problem instead of get buried under the immensity of the problem itself. Think positive, be positive, and then stay positive! The bonus in thinking this way is that like negativity, positivity is contagious - spread it around! Developing a positive attitude is primarily about retraining the way you think about life. It is

not about ignoring the negative aspects of life, but instead about focusing on the positive

factors. Anyone can develop a positive attitude, but it does take a bit of determination, and

some days a leap of faith. This leap of faith may be needed to change from dwelling on

everything wrong to everything right!

If you listen to any motivational speaker, they will talk about positive attitude, on

accomplishments, on achievement, on moving on if things go wrong. It isn't always easy. If

you are overlooked for an internal promotion, for example, it would be easy to think

negatively about the situation. You start thinking maybe you need to get a job where you're

appreciated. You assume the person appointed got the promotion on his golfing ability and

not his leadership skills, and so on. This thought pattern spirals down into greater negativity,

perhaps turning inward as punishment for failing.

This isn't an easy situation to have to deal with, but try and consider what you could do to

make sure that you aren't overlooked for the next promotion. Learn from the experience and

continue moving forward. Change the negative energy into positive action. Whenever you

hear distressing news, you can't sometimes help but be affected by it. Even if it's a disaster

like the terrible Tsunami where you don't know anybody involved personally, you may

empathize with the survivors and mourn the loss and the devastation. You can't help that it

touches you.

Being empathic and compassionate doesn't make you a negative person. Watching the news

and resolving never to go to that region in case it happens again, listening to every news

broadcast, and watching reruns of the clips with the bodies piled high won't bring those

people back. However, it's etching those images on your mind. The reruns aren't played so

you learn to be word perfect with the reporters. They're for the people who didn't see them

the first time around! You've seen the news, now turn off the TV! Think about the situation if

you must, but think about how you could help. Positive action is going to help develop a

positive attitude.

Along those lines, avoid people you know who are unable to function without negativity. If

you can't avoid them, then build up mental body armor against them. When they've got

negative things to say, counteract these with positive reflections about the subject. To

develop a positive attitude, you don't have to hide away from reality. Rather, you need to live

reality in a way that allows you to contribute more effectively within society because you

begin looking at how to help resolve the issues creating problem instead of get buried under

the immensity of the problem itself. Think positive, be positive, and then stay positive! The

bonus in thinking this way is that like negativity, positivity is contagious - spread it around!
