On behalf of the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders, we want to welcome you to the 10th Annual James G. Atkinson Memorial Basketball Classic. The late Gloucester County Freeholder and Freeholder Director James G. Atkinson was a man dedicated to creating great opportunities for the young people living in and around Gloucester County. We believe that the tradition established with this holiday basketball tournament honors Jimmy’s legacy and allows all of its participants to showcase their athletic talents. The tournament also provides an opportunity to contribute to the vital academic future of our young people. Proceeds from this tournament will be dedicated to a special James G. Atkinson Memorial Scholarship Fund at Gloucester County College. I am certain Jimmy would have been very proud of this effort to reward local high school students for their athletic and academic accomplishments, while at the same time encouraging them to attend this College, which he cared so much about.
