EVALUATION QUESTION 4

My product is split into three categories. Research and Planning, Construction, and Evaluation. Throughout these categories, I used a wide range of Media Technologies.

During the research and planning stage, I analysed real media products before starting to plan my own. To do this, I used the following media technology to research and plan my video.

RESEARCH AND PLANNING

COMPUTERSThe main reason I used the computers was so I could access the internet and get on to websites to do the research in school time. The computers I have been using allow for programs to be run on higher settings and handle more items and objects at the same time.

YOUTUBEYouTube came in handy to find videos for analysing the genre I had chosen to do. It also came in good use while I was doing my target audience research and needed some figures of video views of songs by certain bands in the genre.

BLOGGERI had to use blogger all the way through the R&P stage because I had to post information on what I had found during this stage. I found Blogger easy to use as I had used it to post everything last year.

Internet Explorer – in order to be able to access the internet, I used the Internet Explorer browser. I only used IE in school as Google Chrome isn’t installed on the school system.

Google Chrome – I used Google Chrome when I was working at home because it is a lot quicker than IE. It is also easier to use than IE because you can sign in to Google and then you’ll be signed into Blogger, YouTube, etc.

Prezi – To add some multimedia to my blog, I did some posts using Prezi when a lot of text was needed. It made the post look more interesting as it is basically a 3D PowerPoint look.

Smartphones – when I was looking for locations, I used my phone to take still shots and upload them to Blogger using the Blogger app for iPhone.

SlideShare – I used slideshare to upload powerpoint documents that I had done some of my work on.

CONSTRUCTION

This is where I took all of my research and planning and produced a music video, digipak and a magazine advert. During these tasks, I used the following media technologies.

Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 12Sony Vegas took up most of the construction stage as I had to edit my music video which took a couple of months to complete. The tools I used within Vegas were; reverse tool to reverse a clip of the guitar neck so the shot went towards the body of the guitar instead of the head, and I also used the Magic Bullet Quicklooks plug-in and the effect “Sharpen”. Another tool I used was the opacity tool to get an overlay of one clip on top of another.

Adobe Photoshop CS4I used Adobe Photoshop CS4 for both my digipak and my magazine advert. I used it to edit images to make them suit the genre I had chosen.

Camera (Panasonic HC-X800)To film my video, I used a HD Panasonic HC-X800 camera that records in 1080p Full HD. It recorded straight onto an SD card which was really useful and fast when transferring clips to the computer from the card.

EVALUATIONAfter doing all of the research, planning and constructing my music video and ancillary tasks, I had to evaluate the whole process; what I did well, what I didn’t do so well, areas for improvement, etc. During the evaluation, I used the following media technology to produce it.

Social Networking SitesTo gain feedback for my video, I posted it up on my Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as the schools media channel

BloggerTo record the process as well as write up my coursework I used Blogger. It enabled me to share posts and with it being a Google product, it integrates with YouTube well.
