Keeping our aim of “No Ratri Bhojan” at the temple, Diwali Celebrations that normally took place on Saturday evenings is scheduled for Sunday morning. This year’s Diwali Celebration is on Sunday, 26 th October. It starts off with Snatra Puja at 10AM. Then the General Body Meeting will start at 11:30AM followed by Swamivatsalya lunch. This is the last major program of the year. A lot of information for the entire year will be shared with the General Body by EC, BOT and all the sub-committees. Please plan on being there on time so that you don’t miss out on all the important information. Another special event has been planned for 7 th November at the temple – a 24 hour Navkar Jaap. This Jaap would start at 3PM on Friday, 7 th November and end at 3PM on Saturday, 8 th November. We would like to encourage ALL the society members to participate in this one of a kind occasion. Signup sheet has been placed on the notice board in the temple. Please sign up your name for the 2-hour time slot that would be most convenient to you. We completed the celebration of the Paryushana Parva during Aug 27 th thru Sep 3 rd , ending with Parna for Sakal Sangh on September 4 th . We had 42 adults & youth who completed Atthai (8 fasts) or higher tapasya with good 'Shata'. Narendrabhai Nandu’s lectures were well attended and he along with his group not only performed all the Pujas but also did the daily Bhavanas. We hope every member had a very good Paryushan. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee, we want to offer our Michchhami Dukkadam to all of you. We seek forgiveness from all of you for any transgressions through Man (Thoughts), Vachan (Words) and Kaya (Actions). We were very fortunate to have 2 more Jain Sanghs visit us around Paryushan – one right before the Paryushan and one right after – making it a total of 6 Sanghs visiting us this year. On August 17 th Jain Samaj of Toronto and on September 13 th Jain Sangh of New Jersey visited us. Both the Sanghs were given a warm welcome by the available member at the temple. They all performed Puja and Bhavana. We had the fortune of serving both the Sanghs with Swamivatsalya Lunch. Since New Jersey Sangh stayed overnight, our members also took care of their breakfasts. We would like to thank Rajbhai Jain for leading the entire lunch efforts for the Toronto Sangh along with the help from Sarojben Jain, Shashiben Bapna, and Ashaben Jain. We would like to thank Bhanuben Shah, Tarulataben Shah, Reepal Shah, Pratiksha Shah, Jagrutiben Patrawala, Neeyati Shah, Sonal Shah, Mamata Maheshwari, and Sangeen Shah for taking care of the New Jersery Sangh’s meals. Continued from Page 1… Then came our turn to go on Yatra. 95 of our members in two busses went on the East Coast Yatra from September 19th thru 21st. It was a fantastic trip. Talk to anyone of them and they would say it was one of the best yatra trips that our Sangh has ever gone on. Sincere thanks to Vinaybhai Shah and Vastupalbhai Shah for taking full responsibility of this yatra and executing it successfully. We are hoping to make it a yearly tradition of going on a yatra. Ahimsa Day Ayambil was organized on September 28 and was very well co-ordinated by Girishbhai & Ashaben Shah. If you want to sponsor and co-ordinate next Ahimsa Day Ayambil, please contact any EC member. The 2nd Ayambil Oli of the year was from October 05th thru 14th, followed by parna on 15th. About 40 people did the entire Oli. We hope all the Ayambil tapasvis are in good shata. A lot of people put in a lot of efforts to make sure that anyone wanting to do the Ayambil is able to do it with ease. Sincere thanks to all the volunteers for all the efforts. If you are interested in sponsoring the Ayambil Oli, the next open slot is in the Spring of 2010. Sponsorship is only $500 per family with a limit of 8 total families for a given Oli. By the way, this year we distributed Rs. 51,000/- each to 3 different “Ayambil Shalas” in India from the excess Ayambil fund that our society had. Diwali and our New Year are soon approaching. On behalf of entire EC and BOT, we wish you all a very Happy Diwali and a prosperous New Year. Thank you and Jai Jinendra. Rajiv Maheshwari Praful Shah President, Executive Committee Chairman, Board of Trustees

Yatra To East Coast (September 19, 20, and 21, 200 8) With the blessings of the 'Shashan Dev', continued support and encouragement from our BOT/EC and wonderful cooperation from 95 yatris, we had a safe, enjoyable and successful Panch Tirth Yatra from our temple to Siddhachalam-NJ, Queens's-NY, Pittsburgh-PA and Cleveland-OH Temples. Ninety Five Yatris joined in this Yatra and learned a lot with fun and enjoyment. Quite a few yatris visited these tirth places for the first time. We were very well received by all the Sanghs. After reaching Siddhachalam, we did darshan-puja and performed Snatra Puja. In the evening, we did Bhakti. Mihir Zaveri’s Tabla playing was the highlight of the Bhakti.

Cont .. from page 2:

On the way to Queens, we travelled through China Town and all the ladies did window shopping (from bus windows)!! We had a glimpse of the Empire State building from far. The Queens temple is very unique (diversity in one united place). We were given a tour by Jaymikbhai Shah along with the DVDs of Art Work displaced at the NY temple along with the booklet Jainism (A Pictorial Guide of the temple). We were treated with lunch at the Queens temple.

The Pittsburgh Sangh welcomed us with singing and dancing. Following the delicious lunch, there was a procession marching to the temple with singing and dancing. We did Darshan and Chaityavandan in the temple.

We also received a warm welcome with chanting of Sanskrit Shlokas’ recital by priests and Cleveland Sangh. We performed darshan and chaityavandan at Hindu-Jain Temple of Cleveland followed by dinner.

Last phase of our yatra from Cleveland to Detroit temple brought us back to Farmington Hills at 11:00 PM. On the way from Siddhachalam to Pittsburgh, we stopped in rest area for Navkarshi and that was an early morning picnic for all. It was a memorable event too.

Overall, we all had real good time and almost all the yatris committed to join next year. The total collection was $22,300 (including $6,000 individual sponsorships). The expense was $16,089 (including donations from our Sangh to all the temples we visited). Refund of $60 per person was given back to all the yatris resulting in final cost of yatra to be $115 per person.

All the yatris have been requested to provide their feedback with constructive suggestions to make it better for future yatras.
