DESIGN AND ERECTION OF ACCESS SCAFFOLDING FOR PAINT SHOP UPGRADE
Scaffolding Case Study
PROJECT TEAM
Client: Jaguar Land RoverPrime Contractor: DURRScaffolding Contractor: Godiva Access & ScaffoldingValue: £100,000
PROJECT OVERVIEWGodiva was responsible for the design and erection of access scaffolding services to enable the two new TAR units to be positioned on the new platform within the JLR Paintshop. A seven metre high scaffolding platform was erected to allow the new TAR units to be manoeuvred through a hole in the Paintshop exterior wall and across scaffolding platforms built above the Paintshop interior. Erection works were undertaken in advance of the weekend shut-down outside normal hours working overnight, in order to minimise disruption to normal Paintshop production.

Prior to erection the scaffold contractorand/or principal contractor should check the existing structure toensure the scaffold can be based out and erected as detailedand inform Creator Ltd of any discrepancies.
The design service loads indicatedshould be closely site managed to ensure that only 1 numberof working levels are present at one time. The load conditionsof the scaffold should be clearly identified on the scafftag.
Principal contractor to employ a structuralengineer to ensure the applied loads from the scaffold do notoverload the existing structure. Creator Ltd to be contactedwhere structure is deemed unsafe to support scaffold structure.
The scaffold contractor must ensure thatthe maximum bay size installed are as indicated and should not beexceeded. It is the responsibility of the scaffold contractor toremedy any defects.
Maximum lift heights to be installedas detailed by the scaffold contractor and have a maximumtolerance of ±100mm
Principle contractor to closely site manage, ensure clear signage is installed and where required temporary crashbarriers (TCB) to be installed to prevent collision with the scaffoldstructure
All kentledge to be installed prior to loading of thescaffold structure. All kentledge is to be inspected regularly to ensurethe correct quantity is present.
Principal contractor to employ astructural engineer to ensure the applied loads from thescaffold do not overload the existing strata. Creator Ltdto be contacted where strata is deemed unsafe tosupport scaffold structure.
