ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL

All things bright and beautiful All creatures great and small All things wise and wonderful The Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens, Each little bird that sings. HE made their glowing colours, HE made their tiny wings.

The purple-headed mountain, The river running by, The sunset and the morning, That brightens up the sky.

The cold wind in the winter, The pleasent summer sun, The ripe fruits in the garden, He made them everyone. He gave us eyes to see them, And lips that we might tell, How great is God Almighty, Who has made all things well.

SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

There shall be showers of blessings This is the promise of love There shall be seasons refreshing Sent from the savior above.

Showers of blessings Showers of blessings we need Mercy drop round us are falling But for the showers we plead.

There shall be showers of blessings If we but trust and obey There shall be seasons refreshing When we let them have His way.

Showers of blessings Showers of blessings we need Mercy drop round us are falling But for the showers we plead.

WE SHALL OVERCOME

We shall overcome, we shall overcome, We shall overcome some day, For deep in my heart I do believe We shall overcome some day.

We are not afraid, we are not afraid, We are not afraid today, For deep in my heart I do believe We shall overcome some day.

The truth shall make us free, The truth shall make us free, The truth shall make us free, some day. For deep in my heart I do believe We shall overcome some day.

We shall live in peace, we shall live in peace, We shall live in peace some day.For deep in my heartI do believeWe shall overcome some day.

ASSEMBLY PRAYERS

MONDAY O Lord Teach me to grow from strength to strength. Keep my mind unperturbed, and my soul content. O Lord, teach me to become an instrument of your help and healing. Let your presence surround me Let your wisdom guide me Let your strength uphold me Let your inspiration uplift me Let the joy of your goodness, fill me.

TUESDAY Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers, but be fearless in facing them; Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain, but for the heart to conquer it; Let me not look for allies in life's battlefield,

16 17

but to my own strength; Let me not crave in anxious fear to be saved, but hope for patience to win my freedom; Grant that I may not be a coward, feeling your mercy in my success alone, but let me find the grasp of your hand in my failure.

WEDNESDAY When I asked God for strength, he gave me difficult situations to face. When I asked God for brain and brawne, he gave me puzzles in life to solve. When I asked God for happiness, he showed me some unhappy people. When I asked God for wealth, he showed me how to work hard. When I asked God for favours, he showed me opportunities to work hard. When I asked God for peace, he showed me how to help others. God gave me nothing I wanted. He gave me everything I needed.

THURSDAY Grant that we may be set free from fear; From the fear of evil From the fear of weakness From the fear of pain And may spend the day Without dishonor to ourselves, or hurt to others, And, when evening comes, may lie down in peace. Deliver us from mean hopes and cheap pleasures From seeking favours or from shirking hardships. Have mercy on each in his failings; let him be not cast down; Supporting the stumbling on their way And give, at last, rest to the weary.

FRIDAY Master, give us this day hard work to do, Work that will tax us and strain us Work that will stretch our muscles and e4ngross our minds Work that will employ all our powers of body and intellect and heart. If our work appointed this day be study and training for life, Reveal unto us our responsibility for the future; Teach us that every faculty of body and mind must be faithfully prepared So that when our time comes, we may go forth with instruments fit for service, Weapons, polished and keen, with which we may fight the battle of righteousness and truth Vanquishing error, oppression and wrong. If our work be the training and teaching of others, then Make our minds pure and humble That no strain of selfishness or lethargy Of mean purpose or low ideals May mar this weighty and honourable service Which has been committed to our charge.

SATURDAY Lord, make me an instrument of your peace Where there is hatred, let me sow love Where there is injury, pardon Where there is doubt, faith Where there is darkness, light Where there is sadness, joy And where there is despair, hope. O Divine Master Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console To be understood as to understand To be loved as to love. For, it is giving that we receive
